Dear Parents:
We have nine days until the end of the school year. In many ways, it has seemed like the longest year ever; in others, it is hard to believe that is all we have left. We have many fun activities like Field Day and the Color Run coming up, and we will continue to engage our learners in meaningful instruction through the last day of school on June 4.
STAAR testing is off to a great start. Being able to give it on the computer and to spread out the testing dates has really worked well. With only one or two grade levels testing on any given day, we've been able to keep the rest of the classes working as usual. It's really great that testing no longer has to bring the whole school to a halt!
The biggest news from this last week and one of best highlights of the year is that Trivium is now home to a state champion! Congratulations to Lilianna Robinson for placing first in the 200M and third in the 100M in the middle school division at the state meet on Saturday. Lily Merchant also placed third in the 200M in the high school division. We are so proud of these girls and all of the track team who represented Trivium so well this season!
Proud to be a Knight,
Marsha Cawthon
Principal

COVID is a downer, but Trivium Band is marching on! Despite not being able to have an in-person concert, Trivium Band students put on their "Sunday best" and had a great virtual concert last week. Students performed 3 pieces: Dance Celebration, The Theme from Jurassic Park, and Forward March. We hope you will check out their performance on Bloomz and Facebook! Students will also be performing solos and ensembles in the coming weeks, so be on the lookout for those as well!

Algebra students are studying quadratic functions and parabolas, and to make the learning authentic Mrs. Bhattacharyya had students find parabolas around them in real life! Students then graphed it in order to find the equation of the parabola. The students enjoyed this project and commented that it was a fun way to relate what they learned to real life examples.

Meanwhile, 4th grade is keeping the learning engaging by creating a full out simulation of the Texas Revolution, a great way to transfer information into long-term memory. Please enjoy this dramatic interpretation of the Texas Revolution! Click the link below to watch:

How do you keep students learning until the end of the year? You keep it hands on and fun! Students in Mrs. Harrison's class are creating picture book dioramas from recycled materials. Needless to say, students really got into this project!

Our knights have worked so hard to make it to the State track meet in Georgetown, Texas this year. After their success at the North Texas Track & Field Qualifier Meet in mid April, this group competed against other charter school across the state of Texas. Congratulations to Liliana Robinson, taking home 1st place in the 200 M and 3rd in the 100 M middle school girls race, as well as Lily Merchant, taking 3rd in the high school girls 200 M race. These were our first state wins for track and field at Trivium Academy! David Park did an amazing job in the prelims 100 M race. Arisa Jinnah, Christian Holland, Keaton Hodgson, Lily Merchant, and Liliana Robinson competed in the long jump events today and did an amazing job. We are so proud of them and their hard work this year in track and field! GO KNIGHTS!

Meet Coach Torres! She has been teaching and coaching for 14 years in DFW, and this is her first year at Trivium! She played college Division I Softball for the University of Kansas and The University of Texas - San Antonio. Before she started teaching she played professional softball overseas in Italy. She has her Masters in Education Administration and has a passion for sports performance, fitness, animals, and traveling! Coach Torres has been so positive and flexible during this difficult year, and we all just love having her on board as a Trivium Knight!
