FINDINGS
Answer: More than 800 UC researchers

The tallies are in and more than 800 University of Cincinnati researchers and scholars received external support in Fiscal Year 2021 for a total of roughly $221 million—a figure that is up, again, year over year.

In our feature this month, meet three powerhouse Bearcat researchers. Pictured above, left to right, are Associate Professor Jennifer Brown from the College of Arts & Sciences and College of Medicine; Professor Hazem Said, director of the School of Information Technology and Professor Lilit Yeghiazarian, from the College of Engineering and Applied Science. Hear their stories and get an overview of our sponsored research activities, with a link to dive into all the facts and figures.

We say "Next Lives Here" at UC because of the next-level education we offer UC students at all levels. But we also say "Next Lives Here" because of our researchers, who are actively transforming society with game-changing knowledge and disruptive discoveries.

Call for interdisciplinary research pilot ideas from faculty

The request for proposals for the Collaborative Research Advancement Program opens tomorrow. This program provides up to $25,000 for pilot projects proposed by new teams of UC researchers. New this year are additional funds available for space-related research topics.

Consistent with Office of Research goals to spur interdisciplinary research and establish new partnerships within and beyond the institution, this program is designed to seed collaborative research endeavors to help develop research to the point where external funding can be obtained.

Letters of Intent are due Feb. 1.
