Guidelines for Freshmen Mastery Exams

Algebra Mastery & World Placement Exams (Class of 2024)

Let us begin by letting you all know how excited we are to have students back on campus! It has been nearly 4 months since we closed our doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are more than ready to have students and teachers gracing our beautiful building and campus. As we continue to try to provide the best experience possible, to get the most consistent results on your child's exam, and to get your child placed in the appropriate classes, we have chosen to proceed with offering the Algebra Mastery and World Placement Exams on campus and in person. In order to ensure the continued safety and well-being of everyone in the Guerin Catholic community, we have put together some guidelines for students and families to adhere to when coming to school for their placement exams.

The guidelines below have been adapted for this particular event and have been informed by guidance from the Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana, the State Superintendent's Office, Governor Holcomb, the White House, and the Center of Disease Control.

Guidelines

Arrival & Dismissal

All students taking the exam must fill out the COVID-19 Policy Acknowledgement prior to entering the building.

We ask that students be dropped off at the circle drive by their parents and that only the students enter the building.

Members of our faculty and staff will check students in for the exam from their cars beginning 20 minutes prior to the exam start time. Please remain in the car with your child until a member of our Guerin Catholic faculty and staff have checked your child in and provided him/her with their testing location.
After receiving their testing location, students should enter and exit the building using only the main school entrance.
Upon entry into the school, all students will have their temperature screened by an infrared temperature scanner.
Should a student be unable to take the Mastery Exam for any reason (health or otherwise), individual arrangements will be made with the family to schedule a make-up time.
For dismissal, students will exit from the Main Entrance of the school and can be picked-up on the circle drive.

Hand Hygiene and Respiratory Etiquette

Hand sanitizer and tissues will be made available upon entry and within every testing space.

All students and proctors are asked to wear a cloth face covering upon entry into the building and whenever appropriate social distancing cannot be maintained. Once students are seated at their individual workstation, they may remove their face covering if they so choose.

What to Bring
In order to limit the items that must be exchanged between your child and our proctors, we ask that students bring the following items:

Algebra Mastery - Scientific calculator and pencil

World Language Placement - Pencil
Lunch (only for students staying for both exams on 7/7 or 7/11)
Bottled water (optional)
Face covering for arrival & dismissal

Students Staying for More Than One Test:

If your child is registered to take more than one placement test on the same day, we will provide an opportunity for students to eat and relax between exams. Please make sure your child brings their own lunch that day.
