Good evening GRES families,
We didn't have near as many events this week as we did last week but the GRES Intramural Boys Basketball Scrimmage was a good time and we can't forget about our Rosati's Dinner Night Fundraiser last night. Next week is Read Across America Week and we have some wonderful things planned. Please see the spirit days below.
Tuesday, 3/1 is Spring Picture Day!
Please don't (do what I did and) let your child(ren) wear something green...the backdrop is green and anything green will blend in with any background displayed. For example, if your child wears all green, you will get an image of a floating head! ;)
Thank you for your understanding and well wishes after receiving notifications two days in a row about needing to request emergency assistance. Let's keep our streak going and ring in March with kindness...please be kind to the teachers and staff supervising morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal. Our dismissal procedures have been evaluated by the Safety & Security Team and we are in frequent touch with them regarding concerns and improvements. Being rude is unnecessary, unkind, and is not helpful. We are aware of the increased numbers of families choosing to drive their child(ren) to school since the pandemic started, especially this year when we brought all students back into the building. We are considering an alternate drop-off and pick-up routine that may rollout before the end of the year. It takes time to ensure we've researched thoroughly and communicated with the appropriate parties, including students, staff, and parents/guardians with enough time for everyone to be prepared! If you have suggestions to make (not complaints about the current process) for a new procedure, please email Mrs. Breyne. In the meantime, we began passing out sheets of neon pink paper to the cars in the pick-up line for families to make a sign to display in the passenger window (or windshield). You can use any bright colored paper; please write students' first and last name on the paper with a thick, bold marker. Ideally, doing so will help us identify who is being picked up in which car (instead of relying on the students to see their car) and ultimately, expedite the car line.
The Parent Survey Supplement is still open and will close on March 11, 2022. To take the survey please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to begin. Should you have any questions please feel free to contact Brent Edwards at jbedwards@y115.org. Thank you so much for your participation and helping to provide key insights for improvement at your child’s school. Please find more information at Yorkville 5Essentials Parent Survey.
Are you worried you are not receiving all the communications from Y115? As we know, winter weather brings quick announcements of school updates. Please make sure that we have your correct phone number and email. You can check this in your Home Access Center. If you need to make a change, please call the office at 630-553-5513.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Michele Breyne
