SWEET SEPTEMBER!
We’re late, so late, for our usual Wednesday date. You were not deleted from our favorite friends list, however, every now and then, those marvelous computers we all rely on… fail us... so 'Happy Thursday' and thanks for understanding.
Sweet September!  Autumn's in the air, the maple trees are showing off their brilliant red flame, and acorns crunch underfoot, as squirrels and other critters are hoarding nuts and berries for the winter days
that lie ahead. Even in the time of COVID… with schools adjusting to new routines in the classroom and online,  parents working from home… and many favorite pastimes restricted…  the great outdoors still offers special fall delights. Camp grounds, apple picking and corn mazes are open and welcome your visit. NH Magazine has great references to all of the above at these links:

10TH BIRTHDAY
2020 marks the 10th Birthday of the founding of Project Sunapee, our hometown nonprofit!

Celebratory events could not be held as planned (Balloons and Gala’s will follow in 2021)

Much to our surprise, the cover photograph of Fall 2020 SooNipi Magazine serendipitously shows our mission very well…
“Nurturing the roots of our community”.  Serving as fiscal and logistical agents for the Town, construction of the Sugar River Covered Bridge was our first community project.  Preserving and protecting our historic and cultural assets was the foremost reason Project Sunapee was motivated and proud to help the Town fulfill the 1985 Master Plan which included a walking bridge connecting River Road to Main Street and The Livery.

This issue of SooNipi also includes an article about the history and early settlers of Great Island which most of us have only seen from the water.

Thanks to Brant Fagan, who followed in the footsteps of Ron Garceau as editor & publisher of SooNipi for featuring a favorite Autumn photo of The Livery on the banks of the Sugar River overlooking the Covered Bridge!
