Introducing the Anatomage table
A new high-tech learning tool has arrived at the Raleigh County Campus. The Anatomage Table is the only fully segmented real human 3D anatomy system. Users can visualize anatomy exactly as they would on a fresh cadaver. Individual structures are reconstructed in accurate 3D, resulting in an unprecedented level of real accurate anatomy, dissectible in 3D. Anatomy is presented as a fully interactive, life-sized touch screen experience, in operatory bed form. The Table allows for exploration and learning of human anatomy beyond what any cadaver could offer. (Source: anatomage.com)

Greenbrier College Memorial Grove dedication
A dedication ceremony celebrated the completion of the Greenbrier College Memorial Grove on Oct. 14 at New River CTC’s Greenbrier Valley Campus in Lewisburg. The landscaping project began in 2017 thanks to a grant from the Mary B. Nickell Foundation. Trees were planted to honor alumnae and their families, along with a central stairway, stone patio and seating area constructed on a hillside behind Greenbrier Hall. Greenbrier College alumnae gathered at the location surrounded by Dogwood, Japanese Red Maples, Redbud, and Spruce trees, as well as one Gingko tree dedicated by the family of Bettie Sydenstricker Woodward.

New River CTC President Dr. Bonny Copenhaver and Lewisburg Mayor Beverly White welcomed guests during the ceremony. A reception followed at The North House Museum of the Greenbrier Historical Society. Greenbrier College formed from Lewisburg Academy, established in 1812, and provided two years of high school and two years of college as a boarding school for young women from across the United States and abroad until 1972. The Greenbrier College Memorial Grove project was led by Willa Voltz Izzo and by Dr. Mary Montgomery Lindquist, a Greenbrier College alumna and member of the New River CTC Foundation Board of Directors.
Work study funds still available for the 2022-2023 year
Federal Work Study provides a great opportunity for students looking to have a flexible work schedule while completing college courses. Work Study students can provide assistance to College Departments and areas, while also adding work references to their resumes. Work Study is open to those who are determined eligible by our Financial Aid Office and is open to students regardless of the modality of courses the student is currently taking. Eligibility is not guaranteed.

Need a Work Study but don't know where to start? Try some of the below suggestions:
  • Approach students on campus
  • Mention the opportunity while advising or working with students
  • Send a request to faculty to make an announcement in class and in BrightSpace
  • Ask faculty and other staff for suggestions of students who may be interested
  • Post a sign on your office or department door announcing the job

If you have a student that expresses interest in applying for Work Study, please refer the student to Trish Harmon at pharmon@newriver.edu or 304-929-5460 for more information and eligibility verification.

Faculty -
If you have current students that you would like to recommend for Work Study, please email the student name and ID# to Academic Affairs at academicaffairs@newriver.edu and we will reach out to the student to determine interest and will also work with Financial Aid to determine student eligibility.
