WSPTA ESSAY CONTEST DUE MONDAY, MARCH 1

This statewide essay contest explores the important and varied influencers in the lives and education of children—from the children’s perspective. Every day, children are exposed to a variety of people and each one has an opportunity to influence the path a child decides to take. Whether they are someone who sparks an interest in a new topic, helps the child work through a problem, shapes the kind of person the child wants to become by modeling behavior, simply listens to them, or any number of other actions, this is the platform for students to share their appreciation.

The application deadline is March 1 each year.

SOPHOMORES & JUNIORS: NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY INFO MEETING—THIS FRIDAY, 8TH PERIOD

The International School chapter of National Honor Society (NHS) is inviting current sophomores and juniors to apply for membership for the 2021–22 school year.

NHS is a nationwide organization dedicated to scholarship, service, leadership, and character. In years past, the IS chapter of NHS has organized events including tutoring programs, school beautification, staff appreciation gifts, and much more. Academically successful 10th and 11th graders should consider applying to NHS for a great extracurricular experience, a well-recognized honor to add to college applications, and the receipt of a cord upon graduation.

This year, applicants should have a 3.5+ GPA, around 35+ hours of community service, and 10+ leadership hours.

There will be an interest meeting on Friday, February 26, during 8th period (at 11:00 AM), which students can join using the link below.
