Executive Director's Message - Jenny Berg
Re-entry, Re-imagining, Re-energizing

Just like our “beloved” cicada Brood X that is beginning to emerge after a long hiatus, we too are beginning to emerge from our “cocoons” (after what feels like 17 years!). Now we are navigating the big questions: where we work, how we work when we work, and if we can find enough skilled workers. There’s quite a “buzz” of energy around these big questions.

These questions, concerns, ideas, and opportunities came through loud and clear at our Leadership Council Annual Meeting on April 30th. We got some great feedback from you, our members, which we truly value. This information is going back to the board and committees to develop solutions to meet these needs, and incorporate your ideas.  Stay tuned for next steps as we roll out some valuable programs.
We also shared this short video scribe of our year in review- please enjoy it if you haven’t already seen it.

(Since I started this message with a cicada theme, let’s see what you know - try Leadership Council member, Cincinnati Nature Center’s cicada quiz here).

Meet Our New Marketing Intern!
My name is Achala Kasarla and I am going to be a third-year at the Ohio State University this upcoming fall. I am studying Marketing at the Fisher College of Business, while also being involved in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Scholars program there. At college, I'm involved in the Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations (SCNO) club, where I've worked as an associate consultant and project manager with four different non-profits or social enterprises to complete business deliverables for them such as a social media plan, applying for grants, coming up with fundraiser and donor retention ideas, plus more. Through this, I was able to closely watch and help those who stand up for the causes they believe in and it has been a rewarding experience to come out the other end successful. I hope to carry on this same work with Leadership Council and make an impact on our members who are fighting every day to enrich the community around them!

Board Meeting Observations
The Board Orientation + Leadership Development (BOLD) program provides its participants a chance to observe nonprofit board meetings. This year, we are encouraging our Leadership Council for Nonprofit member organizations to consider this opportunity. Members have typically been willing to allow 2-3 participants to observe their meetings at a time. BOLD class dates are here.

If you are available to host a BOLD participant to observe your meeting please complete this form. All information will remain confidential, and the observer will be making notes on this observation sheet.
