DIGITAL MAGAZINES NOW IN LIBBY APP
|
Users of the Libby app can now check out digital magazines! Current and back issues of over 2,000 magazines including international and niche publications are available for immediate use.
If you use RB Digital to check out and read magazines, it's important to know that it will disappear on Wednesday, March 31st. RB Digital was recently purchased by Overdrive, which has allowed for magazines to become part of the Wisconsin's Digital Library collection.
If you have questions about using our digital resources including digital magazines, please call, email, or come in to talk to a librarian.

SUSTAINABILITY AT THE LIBRARY
|
April brings Earth Day - a great reason to check in with how we're treating our environment.
While the past year has put a damper on some of the projects we had hoped to accomplish, we're proud of these environmentally friendly changes we've been able to make:
- Installation of a water bottle filler for patrons and staff to access cold, filtered water for use in a personal bottle or container. The fountains remain turned off but the bottle filler is on and safely usable.
- Participation in the Sustainable Shelves program through Baker & Taylor, one of our primary vendors, which pulps damaged library books to make new paper, and provides a small material credit to buy new books.

Over the last year, each library staff member has been diligent, creative, and more flexible than ever. Our aim has been to deliver library services to you safely and as consistently as possible as we navigate the pandemic.
We continue to use the CDC, WDHS, and North Shore Health Department to provide guidance for the services we offer. If you’ve stopped by lately, you may have noticed a few more positive changes:
- Some upholstered furniture is back, safely distanced from other seating.
-
Newspaper deliveries have resumed including the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and Wall Street Journal.
We know that we will being wearing face coverings through at least Monday, May 17th following the Village Ordinance - and likely longer. In-building story times, book clubs, and more are still on hold, and we will need to wait to allow non-household members to share tables and computers until more of the general population is immune.
Thank you for your heartfelt support of the library staff and for your steadfast demand for library services. We’re getting closer to resuming our role as a vibrant, busy community gathering place; just a bit longer.

Hit the road with big rig driver and moving extraordinaire Finn Murphy. Murphy will take you across the country, giving a detailed of the moving industry and everyone involved. The Long Haul is an informative and entertaining read that I wouldn't have normally picked up if it wasn't for the AM Book Club, and I enjoyed it considerably. After our lively discussion, I think it's fair to say that the book club enjoyed it, too.

An Unkindness of Ghosts is a speculative novel in which social problems follow humanity to the stars. Centered around an autistic healer trying to decipher the meaning of her mother's suicide along with more immediate questions like the potential poisoning of a dictator, the prosthetic foot needed by a child without resources, and the abuse perpetrated by guards against helpless citizens of the lower decks.

A book of memoiristic essays to sit and savor. Jenny Slate (known for her roles on SNL, Parks & Recreation, and in indie films) shows herself to be an imaginative and daring writer in this collection which ranges from moving contemplations of lost love and innocence, to downright hilarious musings about herself from birth to now. If you cherish writing by and about women, and enjoy the experimental, you will want to spend some time with Little Weirds.

INFORMATION YOU CAN TRUST
|
With so many sources for information, it can be hard to sort out fact from fiction and to determine who to trust.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services webpage has up-to-date information about the COVID-19 Pandemic including data about the vaccination rollout, who is eligible, and where to get a vaccine.
