WEDNESDAY WEEKLY
March 2, 2022
NEWS & NOTES
Wilmington Montessori School will be participating in Do More 24 Delaware for a third year, from 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 3 to 6 p.m. on March 4. Do More 24 is a day-long celebration of the many non-profit organizations, including WMS, that contribute to life in Delaware.

How can you participate?
1. Give - Sign up for a reminder and make a gift to WMS through the Do More 24 website during the 24-hour event! Gifts of all sizes matter - there are hourly bonuses given to organizations with the most individual donations ($5 or more) and a stretch pool with matching funds based on the amount of funds we raise over the 24-hour event... In other words, your gifts will DO MORE if you give during Do More 24!

2. Help us spread the word through social media! Share our posts or post about WMS on FacebookInstagram or Twitter using #DoMore24DE and tag us! Several Do More 24 sponsors are offering bonus donations to organizations with social media activity related to this event. You can begin by retweeting this post (WMS will receive $1 if you tag @wmsde)!

3. Share our fundraiser link - www.domore24delaware.org/fundraisers/wilmington-montessori-school - with friends and family! Do you have friends or family members in other states or countries? Prizes will be given to organizations with donations from the most U.S. states and for the gift received from the longest distance away from Delaware!

What is this fundraiser for?
Funds raised through Do More 24 2022 will go toward WMS's 2021-22 Annual Fund. Annual fund gifts help provide financial assistance to families who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford a WMS education, support our teachers’ quests for lifelong learning, allow us to maintain our beautiful 25-acre campus and facilities, and so much more. We are about $10,000 away from this year's $85,000 annual fund goal and we know we can get there with your help!

Bonuses -
  • 3 WMS swag packs will be raffled off to families who donate $100 or more through our Do More 24 site!
  • Everyone who donates $50 or more will receive a ticket to the Do More 24 Virtual Benefit Concert with award-winning a capella group Backtrack Vocals
  • Visit the Do More 24 prizes page to see how your gift or social media post can help WMS earn bonus funds!

Spirit Week 2022 - March 7-11
WMS Spirit Week will held next week - March 7-11. This year, the 9-12 and middle school students are collecting nonperishable food items that will be donated to the Delaware Food Bank. The students are participating in a WMS "Cangineering" event for which they will gather donated food items to build a structure during the week of March 14-16. The students have decided that Almond, the 9-12 classroom guinea pig, will be the inspiration for their structures. You may drop off your non-perishables or monetary donations during morning or afternoon car line. Students will be located at each entrance to collect your items throughout the week! Any monetary donations will be used to purchase additional food items needed to build the structures. Thank you so much for helping our students give back to our community through this service project!

Spirit Week Days:
Monday, March 7 - Mismatched Hair & Clothing Day
Tuesday. March 8 - Look Like Your Friends Day
Wednesday, March 9 - Dress-Up Day
Thursday. March 10 - WMS Spirit Day (WMS clothing or blue and white!)
Friday, March 11 - Pajama Day
Changing COVID-19 Protocols

As we shared on Monday, the State of Delaware ended the mask mandate for schools and child-care centers effective at 6 p.m. last night. At WMS, through the duration of March, we are strongly encouraging members of our community to continue our current COVID-19 protocols, including masking and testing, as we work together to determine the best ways to keep our community healthy.

Weekly on-site testing through Quidel will continue and we are also requesting that toddler families continue to test on their current weekend schedule. These schedules are detailed below.

Please know that as our state moves away from masking, students and staff will always be permitted and encouraged to continue to mask. A return to mandatory masking is possible should a rise in COVID-19 statistics occur locally. Individuals may also be asked to temporarily wear masks as conditions for returning to school from isolation or quarantine.

As always, we ask that you continue to monitor your child's health and stay home if your child has symptoms that might be related to COVID-19 or other contagious illness. Again, we can't thank you enough for working with us to keep our community healthy over the past two years.

Please watch your email for an important announcement with further details on our protocols later today.

If you have additional questions, please submit them via the Google Form shared with our Q&A event on Bloomz!

Policies & Procedures

WMS's COVID-19 policies are based on guidelines from the CDC and State of Delaware Department of Education Office of Child Care Licensing. We continue to monitor those sources for information to adjust our policies and practices as needed.
The Wednesday Weekly shares WMS news and events that are relevant to the families in our community.

Please send submissions to wednesday-weekly@wmsde.org by 4:30 p.m. on the Friday prior to the issue in which you wish to include your information. Content may be edited for length and style and may be held for a future issue due to space constraints.
