Reflections with Fr. Mark
Dear Parishioners,

“Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.”  Well, that ends it for me!  There is no way I can be perfect or even close to the perfection of God. Our personal journey with our God contains struggles, triumphs, service to others, dependency upon others, and so on. None of this journey applies to others in the sense of being “seen.”  Growing up, our parents may have said to us: “Nobody likes a showoff.”  How true this is!

It is difficult to journey seeking the grace of God.  It is a journey in humility.  It is not a walk of “show,” to be seen, to receive accolades, etc.  We know of people in our circles, ministries, or in the pews who are constantly seeking attention for who they are, what they do, or how great they are.  It’s all nonsense, really.  It’s not supposed to be about THEM because all is to point to God.

Lord, help me to keep hidden those things that would take attention from you and draw it toward me.  Help me to humbly point to you in all things and relish only in the attention you give to me. Help me to remember it’s not about me….but, about you leading us.

Blessings,

Fr. Mark
