President's Message

LaTashia Headshot

Greetings All Nation’s Capital Chapter Members,

I pray that your November Holidays were filled with family and fun! The month of December is again full of holiday gatherings. Enjoy yourselves and don’t forget to attend our CPE presentation about Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) on December 15th at 6pm.

The Potomac & Chesapeake (P & C) Council will have a presentation on December 8th at noon. Our own Brandon Schweitzer will be presenting. Register and support this CPE activity.

I will be presenting at Montgomery College to students about joining IMA and the benefits of the CMA.

We will be sending out a survey to find out when is a good time for the chapter to have an in-person meet and greet activity in the DC area. We are still requesting if any members have suggestions for CPE presentations that you feel free to email them to me or start the discussion in the chapter portal.

We are still encouraging members to utilize your IMAnet page to attend any chapter CPE and events that are listed. This is a great way to build connections and broaden our networks across the globe. We as a chapter will also be using this technology to stay connected with chapter members.

I am looking forward to seeing you all at our next CPE activity on December 15th at 6pm. Have a great rest of Preparation Month!

Regards,

LaTashia

ESG, Sustainability, Data and Ethics

 December 15, 2022

6:00 PM to 7:00 PM (ET)

Speaker: Kathleen Sobieralski, Accounting Professor and Program Director, School of Business, University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC)

The Ethics of Data Management frame our accounting and reporting systems. Emerging reporting requirements related to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) as well as to Sustainability, require ethically focused decision making by every member of the reporting team. Data collection is the key first step in meeting the goal to present relevant and reliable information to stakeholders. Auditing ESG disclosures creates the team of auditors as well as responsibilities for stakeholders of organizations being audited. Join our discussion to learn more about ESG as well as ethical data management. Management accountants serve as key members of data collection and reporting efforts. Your attendance will increase awareness of ethical decision making relative to ESG.
