Requests for M-DCPS Letters of Support for Trust Solicitations Must be in by March 4 *
|
|
If your organization intends to request a letter of support from Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) for any of The Children’s Trust grant applications due on March 25, please note that letters of support from M-DCPS may only be provided by the Superintendent of Schools, not individual school site principals. Your request must be submitted through the M-DCPS Office of Grants Administration’s online system at https://www.dadegetsgrants.net/letters-of-support-. A copy of the draft letter must also be emailed to Ms. Eva M. Regueira, Executive Director, Grants Administration at emregueira@dadeschools.net.
Please note that M-DCPS will be closed for Spring Break during the week of March 21 to March 25. All requests for Letters of Support must be submitted by Friday, March 4, in order to guarantee the letter will be provided prior to the Spring Break Recess.

READy, Set, Go Miami! Literacy Initiative Looking for Workshop Hosts
|
|
The READy, Set, Go Miami! literacy blitz launches in March, giving community partners and individuals all across the Miami-Dade County an opportunity to register to become a host site of a READy, Set, Go Miami! workshop. The initiative is a month-long community collaboration coordinated by the Miami-Dade Grade Level Reading Campaign (MDGLR) to 1) promote simple early literacy activities in daily routines at home, and 2) highlight the many early childhood resources in our Miami-Dade community that are available year-round!

CAT Observations for Youth Development, Parenting Programs Starting

Starting this month, The Children's Trust will begin scheduling Content Area Team (CAT) observations for Youth Development K-5, 6-12 and Parenting Programs. As in the past, providers will need to submit their most recent schedules. Trust Program Managers will be reaching out this week with instructions and the link for submission of schedules. SPARK Training in February

The Children's Trust is sponsoring a SPARK (Sports, Play, and Active Recreation for Kids) training event at least once every month. The training is for contracted Youth Development K-5 providers using SPARK curriculum for fitness. Watch the Trust Academy LMS Event calendar for future trainings.

Communities of Practice- Join a community where members support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. All of the following CoPs are currently being offered virtually and are appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting Programs. Parent and Provider Stressors & Barriers - In this CoP, we will discuss the stressors and barriers that both you as a provider, and the families you serve, face. Early Education Internship Opportunity From the Early Learning Coalition *

The Early Education Internship Program offered by the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe and CareerSource South Florida provides an opportunity to work in an early learning program, take early education classes and train to become an early educator. The program pays $13.88/hour, runs 12-16 weeks and will help you earn a 45-hour certificate from the Department of Children and Families, as well as a Pre-Child Development Associate (CDA) training certificate. NBCUniversal's Project Innovation Grants Return for Nonprofits
|
The Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation and NBCUniversal Local announced the return of their “Project Innovation” competitive grant challenge in 11 markets, including Miami-Fort Lauderdale (WTVJ, WSCV).
For 2022, $3.475 million in grants to eligible nonprofits in the following four grant categories:
- Community Engagement: Programs that enable individuals to engage and volunteer in their communities.
- Culture of Inclusion: Programs that encourage equitable access, opportunities, and resources for traditionally underrepresented communities.
- Next Generation Storytellers: Programs that promote access and develop pathways for emerging talent, diverse voices, and underrepresented youth to explore careers in news, entertainment, sports and the arts.
- Youth Education and Empowerment: In-school and out-of-school programs that equip youth with the tools they need to succeed, including STEM/ STEAM education and youth entrepreneurship.
Key grant eligibility requirements: 501(c)(3) nonprofit’s headquarters and/or the program for which the organization is applying must be located in a participating market, service the market they operate from, have had total expenses of more than $100,000 (defined by the organizations most recent 990 IRS filing), and its programs must help to resolve everyday community issues in any of the four grant categories.

The Institute for Child and Family Health (ICFH) provides mental health services including Individual/family therapy and psychiatry for children and adolescents in Miami-Dade County. The institute accepts most Medicaid HMO’s and has funding for children of low-income families who do not have insurance. ICFH also provides individual/family therapy and psychiatry services for adults who have Medicaid.

Health/Mental Health/Disabilities Coordinator *
Oversees the implementation and compliance of the health, mental health, and disabilities aspects of the program. Assist parents with services for their child, establish partnership agreements with health, mental health, and disability providers, track referrals, follow-up, evaluations, re-evaluations, and all relevant meetings, etc. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Science, Nursing, Health Administration, Social Work, Psychology. Level II Background Screening required.
