Feeling Settled in Yet?

This past week really helped to get the feel of the new school year.  The beginning of any year, especially this one, can be bumpy and crazy, but I think we are on to something special.  Let's remember to be patient as our whole Hubbard Woods School community is learning new routines!

Whether you are learning at home or in the school building, we hope those of you who are new felt welcomed by your buddy families, and all returning families were greeted with enthusiasm by the PTO at the start of school.   Another shout-out to our Back-to-School and New Family Committee Chairs for their efforts!

The PTO still has plenty of room on our committees. Please reach out to Sara Dahlstrom, our PTO president, if you want suggestions of ways to get involved!  Be bold, take the leap, join a committee for a school year like none other!

In the meantime, enjoy this great walk-to-school season and please let us know any feedback: [email protected]!

A Reminder to Social Distance

As school continues, please remember to maintain social distance.

With that, clusters of children or adults will not be able to gather, as we need to be 6 feet socially distanced at ALL times and ready to learn our new processes to enter our school safely.

Masks must be worn on campus while outdoors when you arrive. What may seem to be a harmless "quick"  break in practice can cause unintended quarantines, impacting many.

Thank you for understanding our collective responsibility!

Confused about drop-off and pick-up?

Unlike previous years, please drop-off and pick-up your child according to the classroom of your youngest student (not according to the alphabet).

For example, if your youngest student's classroom is closest to Laurel, please drop-off and pick-up all your kids on Laurel.

As a reminder, school hours are:
Morning (AM):
In Person: 8:30 - 11:25*/30am
Remote: 12:30 - 3:00pm

Afternoon (PM):
Remote: 9:00 - 11:30am
In Person: 12:30 - 3:25*/30pm

Walkers/Bikers will be dismissed 5 minutes early in order to social distance.

Picture Day- SMILE!
Tuesday, September 15th (during school hours)

While many things are different this year, one thing is still happening: Picture Day! Of course, there will be some changes to ensure everyone's safety.

This year, all photos will be taken outside by a Stuart Rodgers photographer, maintaining appropriate physical distancing at all times. There will be no classroom photos but Stuart Rodgers will be creating a classroom composite for those who order them. If the weather does not cooperate, we will reschedule for another date.

Please watch your child's backpack for Picture Day forms. If you would like to order photos via Stuart Rodgers, please complete an order form for each child and return them to your child's teacher. A Picture Retake Day will be scheduled for October for any children who miss Picture Day or who are unhappy with their original photo.

More information to come for remote learners!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Becky Sanderson at [email protected].

Hubbard Woods Library Book Return

Our RC Director, Mrs. Delzell, invites any families who still have HW library books from the spring to send those in between now and the end of September when she will take a full inventory of the library collection.

Thank you for taking care of this material during our time away from school!
There is still time to share your child's First Day of School Photo with Yearbook!

Thank you to many of you who sent us your smiles! If you would still like to participate, please send a photo of your child, grouping siblings together if possible, to [email protected]. Photos submitted will only be used in print format for the 2020-2021 yearbook.

Any questions? please contact HW Yearbook editors Alicia Rosauer at [email protected] or Nicole Roberts at [email protected]

Also, please consider volunteering as your classroom's photo parent! Covid-19 safety protocols mean that parent photographs from home will now be a primary source of material for the Yearbook. You can help us tell the story of your child's classroom by gathering photos from teachers and other parents. Lookout for an email from you r room parent(s) with the details, or email the Yearbook editors to learn more. Thank you!

"Do you still have your Back to School Yard Sign?

We hope you enjoyed seeing it in your front yard!  All the signs should have been picked up by now, but we may have missed a house or two.

If you still have a sign for some reason, please return it to 860 Burr Avenue, right across the street from school-white dutch colonial with a red door.

Kudos
