Laguna Art Museum Appoints Victoria Gerard as Deputy Director


Laguna Art Museum has announced the appointment of Victoria Zagarino Gerard to the new role of Deputy Director. Gerard, who most recently served as Vice President of Programs and Collections at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, will assume her new role on September 7. Read more here in StuNews.

New Autobiography by Relámpago del Cielo Grupo Folklórico Founder


Rosario Chavarria Peña, founder of Santa Ana's Relámpago del Cielo Grupo Folklórico, one of the longest operating organizations of its type in the U.S., has authored a memoir. Rosie, as she is affectionately known, has lived a life in Mexican dance as a performer, choreographer, teacher, and artistic director over a period of sixty-four years. The book is available here.

Muckenthaler Center Announces Resident Theatre Company


The Electric Company Theatre, led by the husband and wife team of Callie Prendiville Johnson and Brian Johnson (above) recently became the resident company for the 96-year-old Muckenthaler Cultural Center, once the home of north Orange County pioneers Walter and Adella Muckenthaler. LPAPA finds a new home in one of Laguna’s historic locations


Since its inception in 1996, the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA) has been searching for a permanent gallery space. Recently, it found one--moving into a 1920s era house in North Laguna's Gallery Row. Read more about it here in StuNews.

COUNTY ARTS RELIEF FUNDING

Grants Programs for Districts 3, 4 & 5 Still Open


Following ArtsOC's successful advocacy with the Orange County Board of Supervisors that resulted in $5 million in arts relief funds being designated from its American Rescue Plan Act allocation, four of the five County Districts have announced their funding programs--each of the five districts received $1M and be custom designed by that Supervisor's office.
