Dear Columbus Academy Families,

It has been glorious seeing our students’ growth, hearing their thoughts and even feeding them lunch in these first days of school, and we so appreciate the care you have given them while they have been away from campus and managing the pandemic in your homes. It is obvious that you have worked to help your children become “school ready” in their dispositions and organization, and we are so grateful for those efforts.

During these new days when attending school on campus isn’t a routine certainty, we need as much community effort towards making it more of a reality for all our students.

I am asking that as members of our community -- parents, guardians, faculty, staff and students -- we take seriously the obligations we have to one another’s health and well-being and follow our Community Expectations During a Pandemic.

This long weekend is an important one. If you have been watching what happens on university campuses, the life outside of school -- often on weekends -- is the most problematic for maintaining in-person learning.

Please manage your family’s social life carefully. We assume that you will support our expectations of community health and safety within your circles of influence, understanding that in the most immediate ways we all play a role in keeping our community healthy and at school.

Have a wonderful weekend, and I will be in touch very soon about our best next steps to having a healthy school full of students.

Warmly,

Head of School
