This time last week we had wind chill temps down at -12’... 36 hours after that it warmed up into the mid-50’s! The skies delivered rain, snow, hail, and WIND! all in a 24 hour time spans. It has not been a February of consistency
and it all stands to remind us how powerless we can be in the face of nature... and how our planet’s finer balances are changing. The fleeting hint of warmer temperatures... the flock of robins in tree by my front door... and that we no longer turn headlights on at 3:30pm, gives hope... that greatest balm.

Art Exhibit: "Selections 2022" in Newport
On Exhibit: February 18 - March 30
Gallery hours: Tues-Fri. 11:00 am - 4:00 pm Sat. 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Free admission
The Library Arts Center presents the Selections Exhibit, featuring the work of seven artists selected by jurors from the Juried Regional Exhibit to exhibit a larger body of works in the gallery in this annual favorite group show. Selected Artists include: Rebecca M. Fullerton, Betsy Holmes, Aaron Kane, Susanne Larkham, Gillian Martlew, Mary Jane Morse, & Alan Shulman. The exhibit is generously sponsored by Sugar River Bank.

Whether your town observes the traditional New England “Town Meeting Day” or has chosen to follow the "SB2 Protocol" with February Deliberative Sessions followed by Town Meeting/Balloting Day in March... this is the time all thoughts turn to issues, budgets and candidates seeking to help in the governance of their community by serving on Town Boards and Committees.
We urge all voters to become informed regarding the issues and candidates positions... then exercise your right to vote.

To Register before Voting Day:
- Register anytime at the town clerk’s office during business hours : Mon, Tues, Thur, & Friday - 7am to 4:30 pm Wed , 7am to 12:30
- If you own a home in Sunapee your residency is on record at the town office. If you rent, you’ll need a lease or other document that verifies where you live.
- Or you can register when the supervisors of the checklist meet at Town Hall on Saturday, February 26 from 9:30 to 10 AM.
- This is the last day you can register to vote before March 8, but if you don’t make it, don’t worry! YOU CAN REGISTER THE DAY OF VOTING, NO PROBLEM. PEOPLE DO IT ALL THE TIME!!!
To register on Voting Day:
- When you get to the Sherburne Gym you can register just before you vote. You’ll need your driver’s license and some document that shows where you live like a tax bill or utility bill.
- Call the town clerk’s office if you have questions about this 603-763-2449

You can get an absentee ballot if you will be out of town or have a disability - the application is on the Town website –
You are welcome to bring your children with you when you vote.
You can vote on any articles you choose – not all boxes need to be filled in.

We’re excited to offer a Snow Snake Competition as part of our Winter Celebration during local school vacation week in collaboration with the Abenaki Trails Project.
The event will take place from 10 am to 3 pm on both Saturday and Sunday, February 26th and February 27th and is free to the public.
Learn how to play the ancient Abenaki outdoor game of Snow Snake. Toss a wooden snake into the trough of snow to see how far it can go!
Hot beverages will be available.
We will have a used book sale in the lobby and a great raffle item. The museum and gift shop will be open! There is no cost to go into the gift shop but regular admission applies to tour the museum (free for members).

As sounds of celebration echoed in the night, the Olympic torch was passed on to Milano-Cortina to fly again over the gathering of athletes in 2026. Their amazing determination & dedication to a sport will ever be inspiring for future generations daring to excel and surpass the records achieved in Beijing.
The true meaning of the Olympics was shown in their sportsmanship and camaraderie with athletes from other nations.
