Seth Singleton

Friday, December 2, 2022
World power relations and the global economy are changing fast. Governments are in trouble everywhere. Climate change hangs over the future. Fear and foreboding thrive. Are democracy and human rights a quaint ideology of bygone times, trampled by a rising phalanx of dictators? Does Russia’s war in Ukraine mark a new era of conquest and imperialism? Will nationalism snap the global supply chains that send us clothes, cellphones, can openers, and cars, but also enrich a few at the expense of the many? Will drought and flood send waves of climate refugees fleeing across borders? As governments dither on climate change, must we choose between destroying the planet and turning off the heat and the lights?

Join Seth Singleton in a discussion of what is happening, and where we might be headed, in world power relations, the global economy, climate change, human rights, and democracy. Is there room for optimism?

The deadline to submit course proposals for the Spring 2023 term is Friday, November 25th. Yes, really!

Why so early you ask? Spring term starts March 20th so we need time to finalize the schedule, arrange class sites, add classes to the website, create the course brochure, and order books. Add in the two week registration period and the upcoming holidays and it all adds up. Now you know!

Spring term runs from March 20 to May 26.

Email tip #7

Pay attention to your subject line

Make sure the email subject line is descriptive and relevant to your email topic. For example, "Board Meeting moved to Tuesday, 9/20" is much more informative than "Board Meeting." Good subject lines help people understand what your email is about and keep messages from getting lost.

Start a new email with a fresh subject line if you are introducing a new topic. For example, don't piggyback on the board meeting email thread if you are starting a new conversation about an upcoming event.
