Message from Mrs. Kunze
Nease Families,

Thank you in advance for your patience as we work through solutions to offer most courses through School-Based Distance Learning (option 2). I will send the regular Panther Press this evening with information regarding parking and viewing schedules next week , but wanted to send the information below now since tonight is the deadline for selecting an option for the start of school.

If you have not already watched the newest video on the St Johns County website, please take a few minutes to view. https://www.stjohns.k12.fl.us/blog/instructional-models/

Some of our courses demand advanced technology access. Your student will need access to a computer that can support the necessary software if they want to take one of the courses listed below through distance learning.

Courses that demand advanced technology (We will share computer specs later.)
Advanced IT: Computer that can support CIW Online Account, CIW Lab files, Everfi Online, Quizzes Online, and Quizlet Online

Digital Design 1-4: Computer must have Adobe Creative Suite. Students cannot use a MAC or Chromebook even though Adobe Suite will run on them, as they will not run the required industry certification software needed for the course.

Digital Information Technology: Computer must have Microsoft Office Suite -cannot be a MAC or Chromebook as the industry certification prep software does not work on those devices.

Foundations of Programming: Computer must be able to run Scratch.com and Processing Online Software (processing.org)

Intro to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, Civil Engineering and Architecture, Engineering Design and Development:   Computer must have the AutoDESK Software Suite. These programs can be downloaded by students for free, however, they are MASSIVE and need a lot of computer power and strong graphics cards to run. The program will not run on Macs or Chromebooks.

If your student elected one of the courses above but does not have access to a computer that supports participation, please email Assistant Principal, Abbey Mander at [email protected].

Not Determined Yet – we are hopeful to find solutions
Hospitality & Tourism courses
Digital Video Technology 1 (Tv Pro 1)
Sports Media (Digital Video Technology 2-6)
Wired (Digital Video Technology 2-6)

For any course that we are unable to offer through School-Based Distance Learning, students will be given the option to take the course on campus or choose a different course. Our staff will contact you to discuss any course that impacts the requests you made last spring.

Regarding our International Baccalaureate program, student work that is required to be submitted for the Internal Assessment scores must be completed on campus to ensure authenticity and rigor. Without these components, the IB Diploma will be at risk. Therefore, there will be times when 11 th and 12 th grade students will be required to be on campus . If you have questions about the IB program, please contact Mrs. Kennedy.

Again, I want to thank you for your patience. If you haven’t done so already and would like to choose option 2 (distance learning) for your child, please register your child by tonight using this link.

If you have already selected School-Based Distance Learning (option 2) but have changed your mind and would like to return to campus for brick & mortar (option 1), please email me at [email protected] .

Don't forget the regular Panther Press will be sent later today.
