In this intimate chat, Van will reflect on her journey as an immigrant female entrepreneur in the male-dominated AI space of Silicon Valley, sharing anecdotes of lessons learned and her vision for Elsa.

Vu Van
CEO and CO-Founder, Elsa Speak

Ms. Vu Van is a female entrepreneur and the Co-founder & CEO of Silicon Valley-based ELSA, the world’s best and smartest English pronunciation app. She worked with leading speech scientists, machine learning scientists, and linguists from around the world to create ELSA. Powered by the company’s proprietary AI and speech recognition technology, ELSA scores a learner's speech to pinpoint individual syllable and phoneme level mistakes with real time feedback. Prior to founding ELSA, Vu lived and worked in Vietnam, Singapore, Denmark where she experienced the challenges of an English language learner abroad. She served as an Engagement Manager at Booz & Co, one of the top four global management consulting firms. Vu earned an MBA and a Masters in Education from Stanford University and is originally from Vietnam.

Jennifer Litwin
VP and Head of Financial Services Sales & Strategy, The Forem

Deeply impressed with Alli Young’s vision of an execution platform democratizing career advancement, Jennifer Litwin joined The Forem in early 2020. She is responsible for bringing The Forem’s personalized learning management tech, streaming platform with customized curriculums, and expert coaching to the financial services sector. In addition to running this vertical within The Forem, she also serves as a Career Mentor, sharing the insights and skills she honed over 24 years in the industry. Jennifer’s most recent role was as Senior Vice President and Head of Relationship Management at Greenwich Associates. During a 13-year tenure, she was responsible for leading a large team of relationship managers, spearheaded Greenwich Associates’ RM initiatives with key decision-makers at select priority buy-side institutions, and was a frequent speaker at industry conferences. Prior to this, Jennifer was a senior sales-trader on the Synthetic Guaranteed Investment Contract (GIC) desk at UBS Investment Bank. She began her career as an Associate in the back-office at AIG Financial Products Corp. Jennifer is a recipient of Traders Magazine “Wall Street Women, A Celebration of Excellence 2012 – Crystal Ladder Award”, and was elected to the National Organization of Investment Professionals (NOIP) in 2016. Also a coloratura soprano, Jennifer maintains a concurrent career as a professional freelance musician, with extensive experience as an opera singer, recitalist, and orchestral soloist, and is a voice and piano teacher. Her vocal and performance skills have also played a role in developing curriculum for The Forem, most notably in the form of her “Know Your Voice” presentation. KYV highlights techniques based in classical singing, helping those who wish to enhance their public speaking skills by teaching them to harness the expressive power of their voices. Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Music degree at Oberlin Conservatory, and her Master of Music degree at Yale University.
