Aging and Disability Resource Center of the Lakeshore

Home Delivered Meal Drivers
Looking for Meals on Wheels Drivers at our Manitowoc and Reedsville Meal Sites. Each day we deliver meals to the homebound between 11 am - 1 pm. Pickup occurs at the Manitowoc Senior Center or the Senior Apartment Complex in Reedsville with a pre determined route for fastest deliveries. We are currently practicing contactless delivery and have increased all safety measures during the global pandemic. Must be at least 18.

Prevention Program Facilitator

At the ADRC, we are passionate about educating and empowering older adults to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle through our evidence based prevention programs. As a facilitator, you would teach a class once a week for 6 or 7 weeks depending on the class. The class ranges anywhere from 2-2.5 hours and you only need to hold one class to keep your status active. The classes available for teaching are Stepping On - a falls prevention class - and Living Well With Chronic Conditions. Must be at least 18.

Maintenance Volunteer
Do you enjoy painting, carpentry, landscaping, or maintenance in general? We are looking for a skilled volunteer to help fix up our buildings. Must be at least 21.

Drivers

We are in need of drivers in the morning from 8:45 -10:00 am or in the afternoon from 2:30 - 4:00pm. Drivers would be dropping off clients at mobile work crews (job sites) and picking them up. If you have a CDL, you could also help us with deliveries and pickups. Must be at least 21.

Front Entrance Ambassadors
Ambassadors will assist with helping patients/visitors find their way to their appointments throughout the hospital. You will greet patients at the front entrances, assist with wheelchairs, and walk the patient to the appropriate area for his/her care. Hospital Elder Life Program Volunteers

The Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) is an innovative program designed to maximize the hospital experience of older patients. Being in the hospital can be difficult for an older person and can cause a decline in their physical and mental abilities. HELP strives to keep the older patients' minds and bodies active, speeding the healing and recovery process.

You will receive specific training in four volunteer intervention programs including: daily visitor, mealtime assistance, early mobilization, and therapeutic activities. You will be able to provide encouragement and companionship to older patients and families.

This is a 6-month minimum commitment with one 3-4 hour shift per week. Must be at least 18. Contact Patty LeClair at 920-794-5115 or patricia.leclair@aah.org.

Day Surgery Assistant

The Same Day Surgery Volunteer is part of the Registration Team and works very closely with patients, families & nursing staff. Responsibilities include escorting patients to assigned rooms, orientating patients and their care partners to the Same Day Surgery procedures.

This is a 6-month minimum commitment with one 3-4 hour shift per week. Must be at least 16. Contact Patty LeClair at 920-794-5115 or patricia.leclair@aah.org.

Volunteer from Home Positions

If you are interested in working with patients remotely from home, we could use your assistance in the following programs:

  • Concierge Admission Program
  • Virtual Advance Directives
  • Virtual Visitation Visits

Days and hours to volunteer are flexible; any timeframe between 8:30am and 7:00pm Monday-Friday. We will take as little as one day a week for 3 hours and up to four/five days a week with 4-6 hour timeframes. Onboarding and training provided. Commitment is a minimum of six months. We need you!! If a rewarding volunteer opportunity is what you are looking for, this is it. We are looking for companion volunteers to visit with patients in their homes or facilities. A listening ear, a card game a puzzle. Simple things to make a person's day. No hands on care. Training provided. Do you have a few hours a month that you could share with someone? Flexible scheduling.  Must be at least 18.



Memory Bear Maker

Are you skilled at creating, sewing or crafting and interested in helping from the comfort of your own home? If so, being a Memory Bear Maker is just for you! We are looking for volunteers to help impact our families by creating memory bears. We provide training, patterns and necessary supplies for the memory bear program, and the families will provide the material for the bears. ** Must reside in Manitowoc County so we can bring the materials for the bear to you.* Must be at least 18.

CASA - Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children
CASA Volunteer Advocates go through an initial training before being sworn in and assigned a child. Volunteers get to know the child by talking with everyone involved in that child's life including parents, relatives, foster parents, teachers, medical professionals, attorneys, social workers, and others. Volunteers use this information to inform judges and others of what the child needs and what will be the best permanent home for them via a monthly report. The recommended commitment is 1 hour per week visiting with the child in addition to taking time to connect with other people in the child's life as stated above. Ranch Hands
We are seeking help at the barn! Looking for a fun way to get your family or team working together? Come join us at the barn for AM or PM (or both) chores! Individuals, families, or small groups of people are welcome. We are a small non-profit organization located in Reedsville, committed to helping a growing community of people who know the positive impact horses can make. Garment Organizer

Felician Village accumulates "extra" clothing over time. If you have interest in organizing a few closets on a quarterly basis then we have just the thing for you. Items may need to be boxed and taken to a thrift store occasionally.

Chapel Escorts

Escort residents to and from our beautiful Blessed Angela Chapel. Arrive at approximately 8:55am and work alongside another volunteer to escort residents to a from the 9:30am Catholic mass. Space permitting, volunteers may take part in the service. Must be at least 18.

Felician Village On the Go Driver
Drive members to scheduled destinations within Manitowoc County in our new Chevy Equinox. Scheduled trips normally occur Monday-Friday. Hours vary monthly; you provide us your availability. Must be at least 21.

Handyman (as needed)

Looking for volunteers to perform minor repairs in Manitowoc County community members' homes. Tasks might include changing lightbulbs/batteries; tightening screws; changing filters; hanging photos; assembling small furniture or equipment; etc. Scheduled at your convenience. May be called upon once per quarter. Must be at least 18.
First Presbyterian Church
Help with Community Dinners

Each Wednesday First Presbyterian Church serves approximately 200 meals to the community. With rising inflation, this program has increasing importance to families struggling to make ends meet. Volunteers are needed for kitchen prep work (Tuesdays or Wednesdays during the day) or serving (4:00-6:00pm Wednesdays). Contact Suzanne at 920-682-4688, option 7. You can volunteer as often as fits your schedule.

Warming Shelter Volunteers

The Manitowoc Warming Shelter is projected to open in Winter 2022 for the season. We plan to initially be based at First Presbyterian Church, 502 N. 8th St., downtown Manitowoc. Positions to be filled include:

  • Night Monitors - 8:00pm-8:00am in 4-hour shifts

  • Daily Setup - 7:00-8:00pm

  • Daily Checkin - 7:30-9:00pm

  • Daily Cleanup - 7:30-8:30am

  • Daily Food Service coordinated by Grow It Forward

General Office Work
We are looking for younger (not over 65) volunteers to perform general office work, particularly answering the phone Monday-Friday 4-8pm. Any days you could help out would be greatly appreciated!

Shelter Monitor Assistants

Shelter Monitor Assistants are needed for the following days/shifts: 8am-noon every other Saturday & Sunday; 4-8pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday.

We are also looking for backups for the following days/shifts: 10am-4pm Monday-Friday; 4-8pm Monday-Friday.

Volunteers will be trained in what is expected during a particular shift. Must be at least 21.

Network Mailroom Volunteer
Our volunteers help sort incoming and outgoing mail. They also process all USPS mail by weighing and applying proper postage. They deliver mail throughout the hospital as well. We are looking for volunteers who are comfortable working with others, ability to keep all information strictly confidential. Also would need ability to walk throughout hospital for the mail delivery route. Must be at least 16.

Weekend Daytime Coverage

Weekend shifts are available for both Saturdays and Sundays during the day throughout the year.

Evening Hosting at Hope House
5-8pm

Evening hosts socialize with guests, welcome newcomers, and assist parents with children's needs. Evening hosts may conduct children's activities, help with homework, or assist a guest with a particular need.

Some miscellaneous duties are cleaning, washing laundry, handy work or organizing the donations that we receive, and special projects.

Children's Services

Plan activities with children and/or families. Play games, do crafts, teach a skill, make a new snack, help with homework, supervise children in the shelter during support group, etc. Activities can be provided by families, adults or groups in the evening, weekends, or during the day in summer.

Shelter Helper

Assist residents as needed with daily living skills: applying for jobs and housing, making meals, budgeting, etc. Plan activities such as games or crafts for adults. Can be done anytime by individuals, families or groups.

Maintenance/Building & Grounds Volunteer

Looking for a maintenance volunteer (or several volunteers) that would be interested in a variety of tasks to help with upkeep of our building and grounds. This could include replacing lightbulbs, furnace filters, etc.; minor repairs in administrative and shelter buildings; ordering building and maintenance supplies; picking up food orders; shelving donated items in storeroom and rotating stock; sweeping near entryways and outside sitting areas; filling toilet paper, paper towel and soap dispensers; other maintenance duties as assigned. Must be at least 18.

Sexual Assault On-Call Advocacy (SAVS)

Are you calm under difficult situations? Are you skilled at offering support to those who have experienced trauma? We are looking for volunteers to be on call for two 12-hour shifts per month to provide crisis intervention and support for victims, family members, and friends. Twenty hours of training provided. Must be at least 18.

Dog Walker
The basic function of a Dog Walker is to provide exercise and enrichment to the dogs in our care. This primarily includes dog walking and field trips to pre-approved locations. Must be at least 18 and have a valid driver's license.

Data Entry Clerk

The basic function of the Data Entry Clerk is to assist shelter staff with data input and update records previously entered into the system. Must have: excellent people skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to type 35 words per minute; the ability to learn quickly and navigate efficiently through computer software.

Buildings & Grounds Maintenance
Help with general repairs, and other projects on the historic structures at Pinecrest Village. This can include general cleaning, gardening, painting, woodworking, etc. Must be at least 18.

CST Mentors
The youth involved in the CST program are in need of mentors. This has been one of the most successful services that the CST has offered to our youth, and due to program growth there is a greater need for mentors. Mentors are volunteers who are willing to dedicate one hour or more a week to youth in our community who would benefit from a consistent adult relationship. Must be at least 18.

Adult Literacy Tutor
Volunteer tutors work one-on-one with adults seeking to improve basic literacy and English language skills. Tutoring times are flexible to suit volunteer's availability. Tutors typically spend about 2 hours/week tutoring. No prior tutoring or teaching experience is required - just patience and the desire to help another adult. Training is provided as are all tutoring materials. Must be at least 18.

Disaster Dispatchers
Work 1-2 shifts per month from home. Dispatchers answer calls from Fire Departments, Police Departments and clients, offering assistance due to home fires, flooding and natural disasters. Must be at least 18.

Blood Donor Ambassadors

Help out at blood drives by checking in donors, giving them their name tag, making sure they have a snack and drink before they leave, making them comfortable and thanking them for saving lives through blood donation.

Pantry Helper
The Pantry Helper assists by selecting food items for clients that have scheduled a pantry appointment. Other duties include stocking shelves and coolers. We Honor Veterans Honors Coordinator-Volunteer
Seeking a dynamic individual with a veteran centric mindset to assist the Volunteer Coordinator in scheduling Veteran Honors our Veteran patients we serve. This role consists of making calls and reaching out to veterans and their families on our hospice services to set up and coordinate veteran honor ceremonies.

Some of the duties that the We Honor Veterans Honors Coordinator volunteer would be responsible for would be some of the following:

  1. Work with Volunteer Coordinators to get a list of names of veterans that need to be contacted.
  2. Contact the family and/or the veteran and set up a preferred time for Veteran honors to take place.
  3. Work directly with the We Honor Veterans Volunteer group to schedule volunteers to honor patient and coordination of scheduled time.

Kitchen Assistant

We are looking for help packaging meals for our Home Delivered Meals program and to wash dishes after meals are served. You can help once a week, a few time a month, or any time in between. Hours are 9:45am-12:45pm.

Home Delivered Meals Driver

Driver to deliver meals to seniors. Multiple routes open Monday-Friday at 11:00am. Takes one hour on average. Must be at least 18.

TRUST Car Driver

Drive seniors to appointments on the TRUST Car schedule. Mondays 9:00am-3:00pm and substitutes. Must be at least 18.

Pub Desk Greeter
Greet and direct guests to the rooftop bar. Be available to assist with cleanup at the end of the evening. Answer questions and monitor museum entrances and galleries.

Tour Group Docent

Greet bus tour groups and give them instructions/direction upon arrival. Help organize the group into smaller groups for tours. If requested, be a gallery guide and answer questions. Assist the groups with any special needs during the visit.

Education Assistant

Assist with school groups by teaching a program to students, reading books to young children, and/or giving gallery tours (maybe on the submarine too). Shifts and hours will vary depending on group sizes and visit times.

Tour Assistant

Sit at our Tour Guide desk and help visitors with our new audio tour. Assist them in downloading or using it, give directions for getting into the sub, go over the rules, answer questions, and monitor the security cameras.
