It is our mission to empower all youth, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.
Rams' Andrew Whitworth delivers moving speech after winning Walter Payton Man of the Year.
The following video is a great reminder of how the work we do provides kids, teens, and even staff, with opportunities and special moments that encourage and support their path to great futures.

This one is a MUST SEE! Watch Andrew Whitworth share the incredible story of his positive impact on a Club kid during his Walter Payton Man of the Year acceptance speech. Watch his full six-minute speech.
“It's called an investment… You can invest your time, you can invest your finances or you can invest your voice, doesn't matter which, we just have to keep investing in each other. Let your heart lead you all the way.”
FREE MEALS!

Did you know that we serve free meals Monday-Friday for ALL youth in Langlade County? On school days we offer an after-school snack and dinner. On non-school days (and in the summer) we provide breakfast, lunch and snack.

At the Club, we welcome any child in to eat no matter if they're a member of the Boys & Girls Club or not! We are on a mission to reach more children
who need meals! If a child goes without a meal they are not able to learn as well, concentrate, behave or have the energy to play as a child should!

If you know someone who could benefit, please share this information; no one
should go hungry!
Be Great Graduate Program Highlight
Did you know that we have a Graduation Specialist? If not, now you do! Her name is Alli Henkelman and she runs a program called “Be Great Graduate” (Or BGG for short!). Alli started working with us in June of 2020 and graduated from St. Norbert College. Her degree is in Sociology and many of her classes focused on societal effects on our youth today.

Alli spends most of her time at the Antigo Middle School and High School where she helps 15-20 students, develop the academic, behavioral and social skills needed to be successful. The BGG program focuses on three areas; attendance, behavior, and academic progress. You may find Alli helping a student with homework, attending classes with them, helping them keep their locker organized, getting them involved in after-school activities, and so much more!

Pictured below is the 2nd quarter BGG raffle basket winner, Brianna! Every quarter, Alli puts together a raffle basket based on a theme and for every passing grade they get, they get entered into a raffle. Other incentives are also given out when a student reaches their personal goals. You can always count on Alli to keep things fun!

If you have more questions about the program, please reach out to Alli at: gradspecialist@bgcnorthwoods.org
Member of
the Month

Congratulations to our member of the month, Clara!

Clara is in 3rd grade and has been coming to the Boys & Girls Club for two years. Her favorite program is anything in the Teen Zone. She enjoys coming to the Club because “it is fun and there are lots of fun things to do”.

Staff members chose Clara because….

“After school, she gets right to homework and always listens.”

“Clara gets along well with other members!”

“Clara sets a good example for other members. She is kind and listens well to all the staff”!

Well done, Clara!
Staff of
the Month

Please help us congratulate our staff member of the month, Casey Jaje!

Casey has been working with the Boys & Girls Club for 4 years! She started out as a program staff primarily working in the Learning Center, then transitioned to our Future Forward Program Manager, and is now our Program Director!

The BGCNW Staff really respect Casey and value her as their leader! Here is what fellow staff members have to say…

“She has done amazing planning activities for the kids and holiday parties, and also many of the staff feel supported by her. She is willing to step in when needed or asked!”

“She is organized and on top of things, keeps us all in the loop, and is great with the kids!”

“She is flexible and makes program adjustments as needed.”

Casey said her favorite part of working at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northwoods is seeing our members grow into young adults and overcome struggles.

Thank you Casey for all that you do for BGCNW!
February is Black History Month

The Black History Month 2022 theme, “Black Health and Wellness,” explores "the legacy of not only Black scholars and medical practitioners in Western medicine, but also other ways of knowing (e.g., birthworkers, doulas, midwives, naturopaths, herbalists, etc.) throughout the African Diaspora. The 2022 theme considers activities, rituals and initiatives that Black communities have done to be well."
