Weekly Newsletter 09/29/2022

Dear Parents,

Since this ended up being a super short week, I have told the teachers that they do not need to do a weekly letter this week. I do need to give my staff a huge shout-out. In preparation for the storm, they moved the furniture in their rooms away from the door and helped sandbag our doors, and prep the playground. This morning, once it was safe to return, they returned at 10 am to get the school ready for your child. I could not ask for a more wonderful team.

Special thanks also to my K/1 staff who put together home learning packets so their students did not miss a beat.

With regard to the storm, we are so very lucky that Miami dodged the bullet. At the school, we had roof leaks in 3 areas and had some downed branches, and lost 3 of our new shade sails. I have someone this weekend coming to put them back up so you will see no damages.

Our thoughts go out to our neighbors in Port Charlotte and the areas that were affected. I actually have a sister there who was in a warehouse all night. She actually sold her home and the closing was scheduled for today. We are hoping the house is ok!

Like everyone else, we are counting the days til hurricane season ends and hope to be safe throughout the season. This was a great test run.

We look forward to a full week of learning next week.
