We had our first outdoor Mass on Sunday, June 21. Our Sunday Mass will now be at 10:00 am each Sunday, outside at the new Martyrs Grove Altar for the summer. (Our Shrine Church will only fit 30 people due to social distancing, so we will have the Mass outdoor weather permitting.) The Covid-19 restrictions are the same... masks must be worn, social distancing, calling or emailing to let us know who is coming. The Morning Masses have resumed from Monday to Friday at 7:30 am in the Shrine Church. There is not a 7pm Mass on Tuesdays as we had before. On Saturday there is only one Mass in the morning at 10:00 am. Confessions and Holy Hour have yet to be resumed.

The USA between Elections and the Coronavirus Pandemic
|
|
...This election year, with the coronavirus turning our worlds upside down, will be all about Covid-19. All other issues: immigration, global climate change, global solidarity, income inequality, sexual ethics, all through the lens of pro-life stances, may very well take second place. So, the next elections will be very unpredictable. But whatever happens, the Catholic impact on American politics is highly significant and worth pondering.... Read the

The "Laudato si 'Week" took place last May: an important opportunity to explore and better understand the wealth of Pope Francis' encyclical, published five years ago.
If we re-read the text in this period, knowing that thousands of people have been affected by the virus , and just as we become aware of the painful consequences of the pandemic also on the globalized economy, perhaps, we realize better the urgency of planning and act in the direction indicated by the Pope.
During the compulsory confinement necessary to limit the spread of the disease, we have witnessed very particular processes: on the one hand the decrease or total cessation of many activities, on the other the marked reduction in the emissions of polluting agents; however, we do not feel comforted by breathing cleaner air, because the price paid to the virus in terms of human lives has been incongruous and terrible. We have also witnessed the exponential growth in the use of the Internet, apps and social networks, but the suffering due to social distancing has not spared anyone.

A Lamentation and Prayer for Action Against Racism
|
|
We are tired, O Lord,
Overwhelmed by the violence and death
That has ravaged this country,
Fed by prejudice and mistrust.
We are tired,
And yet we are called to mourn together,
To lament and to remember the names:
May the dead rest in your peace,
May our acts of solidarity with the living
Be a memorial to the dead.
We are fearful, O Lord,
As we see the violence and death
That plagues our nation,
So infected with the racism that remains
An open wound that has not healed...
