Dear Members of the Deaf Community,
The staff of the Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) and the Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Library Development and Services (DLDS) continue to make progress in developing the infrastructure of the Maryland Deaf Culture Digital Library. Current progress include the following:
- Individuals from throughout the state have been appointed to serve on the Maryland DCDL Library Advisory Board and Maryland DCDL Friends of the Library. A video announcement recently introduced the names of members of the two groups. The DCDL Advisory Board had its first meeting on October 19.
- The first meeting of the Maryland DCDL Friends of the Library has been scheduled for November 29.
- Library administrators throughout the state of Maryland were given an update on the Maryland DCDL to share with staff on October 6..
- A temporary webpage for Maryland DCDL has been created to provide statewide access to deaf culture related resources. A new and a separate website will be developed to better brand the Maryland Deaf Culture Digital Library. The Maryland DCDL will be seeking a contract with a graphic designer and web developer to help create a deaf centric, robust, and navigable website that will allow Maryland DCDL staff to add more content.
