ONE FUND - Together we Thrive
|
|
Our GivingTuesday campaign was a great success and we are so grateful to everyone who participated.
If you didn't participate, it's not too late! Now more than ever, the Washington Waldorf School can use your help to continue our mission in 2021.
There are several ways to give because this is not a one-size-fits-all situation. Everyone is facing different challenges, and whatever way you think is best to support the School at this time can make a huge difference! And, if you make your gift by December 31, 2020, it is fully tax deductible in the 2020 tax year.
-
Donate a Cash Gift Now Any gift, no matter how big or small, can make a huge difference for our School today. Plus, with the recent passage of the CARES Act, every American can donate up to $300 tax-free, whether or not you itemize deductions.
-
Donate a Non-Cash Gift: There are many ways to give back that can benefit you as well! You may want to consider making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) gift from your IRA, transfer of stocks, or give from a Donor Advised Fund and receive more than 50% in tax savings. Please contact your financial advisor for more information.
-
Participate in the Combined Federal Campaign. Federal employees can donate to WWS quickly and easily through payroll deductions. Use the CFC code #80332 to select the Washington Waldorf School as your charitable beneficiary.
-
Ask your employer if they offer matching gifts for charitable donations. Many employers will match your donation to the School
-
If you shop at Amazon, go to https://smile.amazon.com/ch/23-7003486 when doing your online shopping and 0.05% of your total purchase will be sent to WWS to support the ONE FUND.
If you have any questions about any of these ways you can give, or are looking to connect deeper with the School, please do not hesitate to reach out!

Word of Mouth & Yard Signs
|
|
Do you know that word of mouth is the number one way that new families find independent schools?
New families find WWS in a number of ways but nothing can top hearing a first hand account from a friend or even someone you meet in a park (this happened with an inquiry that came in recently!). If you know someone who might be interested to learn more about WWS, please let them know about our upcoming informational webinars.
|
|
|
Do you have a soft spot for our community and a good spot in your yard for a sign?
If you can bring some attention to our wonderful community by displaying a yard sign (pictured), please email Alia Goodyear and we will deliver a sign to you!
|
|
Thank you for spreading the word!

Anthroposophical Society - Greater Washington Branch
Holy Nights 2020-21
from Nancy Foster
The Branch Festivals Group invites you to participate in a four-part observance of the Holy Nights. Since we cannot gather in person, we will celebrate at a physical distance, but united in spirit.
Participants will read together – but each in our own home – three lectures by Rudolf Steiner, in preparation for a poetry workshop on Zoom led by poet and teacher Tina Daub. Our reading will be a deed we each carry out in the knowledge that others
in the community are also reading. We suggest you let us know that you plan to participate; on the day before each lecture-reading, we will email those who have responded, so that you can be mindful of your reading companions and have a sense of connection.

A Season of Reveling with the Washington Revels
This year the glow may come from our screens rather than the flaming Yule log, but the warmth is just as real.
Take hands with us in this “Season of Reveling” for a journey from the Autumnal Equinox to the Winter Solstice and beyond that winds through holidays and celebrations that brighten our lives and the lives of our friends and neighbors!

Tutor Without Borders - Tutoring and Educational Support Services for Middle and High School Students
Middle School: English, History, Math, Science, and French
High School: English, History and French
Any age: French (lessons, conversation, tutoring)
Hello! I provide virtual tutoring and educational support services to middle and high school students across the country. Along with academic subject teaching, my expertise includes helping students with study skills, time management, and homework support. I aspire to instill a curiosity and love of learning in all of my students. In these times of remote learning, it is vital to tailor sessions to students’ needs and specific learning styles.
Born and reared in Washington D.C., I have a BA in Political Science and Geography from the University of Vermont, and a Masters of Education from Antioch University. With 10 years of classroom teaching experience, I have worked in Baltimore public schools, as a tutor and substitute teacher in multiple D.C. private schools, and as a Waldorf class teacher from 2012-2019 in Southern Oregon. I have recently returned to live on the Oregon coast after traveling the world, including a multi-month stint at McMurdo Station in Antarctica.
Catherine Dixon (former WWS substitute teacher)

Nejm Benessaiah (WWS Parent) Debut Album
from the Benessaiah-Calis Family
|
|
Announcing the release of my debut album: Chimaera!
Getting music via Bandcamp is the best way to support artists directly, especially on Friday, where they get 100% of the proceeds. For less than the price of a cup of coffee! Please stream and save on Spotify if that's where you listen, as that will convince the algorithms to put the album on the big playlists. Share with friends if you like it!
This album represents a moment in time of profound change in my life, of digging deeper, beneath despair to find true joy, passion, colors from family, music and nature. There are networks of deep fibers, silicon circuits, tissues, salty tears and itching tendons which long to rub together in time with syncopated rhythms, deep grooves, shimmering bells and new blossoms sprouting on old forgotten tales.
