Reflections with Fr. Mark
Today, we celebrate the Memorial of Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin…or Juan Diego.  Try and say that name without stumbling!  Of course, we know of Juan Diego as one of the main players in the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe which is celebrated on December 12.

We celebrate a story that now takes on indigenous features in the description of the characters involved.  The story of Juan Diego takes on the symbolism of hospitality and hope as characterized in his tilma. As God often calls forth and supports the “Juan Diego’s” of our world, we come to realize the many dimensions of our Advent journey that call on us to focus on peace, justice, unity, and the hope that only Christ can bring.

Happy Advent!

The journey continues…being chosen to reflect…the hope of Christ through Mary.

Blessings,

Fr. Mark
