Endowed Retiree Open Enrollment 2023
Monday, October 31st - Friday, November 18th
NO ACTION IS NEEDED if you want the same coverage in 2023 as you had in 2022.

In late October, Endowed Retirees on Aetna retiree health plans will receive an Open Enrollment (OE) Guide mailed directly from Aetna. Please read the material carefully to review your health plan options and any contribution changes effective January 1, 2023. If you are eligible for Medicare, please review the Health Plan Comparison Charts for the Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plan (MAPD) and the Retiree 80/20 plan.

Fall OE Meetings: Cornell benefit experts and Aetna representatives will hold hybrid presentations for the 2023 retiree benefit plans on Monday, November 7th. Presentations will be available in-person at East Hill Office Building, 395 Pine Tree Rd., Suite 140 in Ithaca, and online via Zoom or phone dial-in.
Find the meeting schedule and Zoom/dial-in details here.

You can log in to AetnaRetireeHealth.com/Cornell at any time to review your current benefit information, watch videos, read articles, and use tools to help you with your healthcare decisions. In addition, from this site, you can manage your bills and make payments, or you can choose to ‘go paperless’ and ask Aetna to email you when your bill is ready to view and pay online.

If you are unable to attend a presentation, Aetna’s dedicated Retiree Service Center is still here for you:

Film Screening—Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, a Journey, a Song
Friday, November 11 & Saturday, November 12 at 7:00 PM @ Cornell Cinema

Leonard Cohen spent the greater portion of his career writing and perfecting one of the music world’s most beloved hymns, “Hallelujah.” This documentary by the same title chronicles the spiritual journey of the artist and his painstaking commitment to the craft of songwriting. The film also explores how the song took on a life of its own as a popular cover sung by the likes of Jeff Buckley, John Cale, and Rufus Wainwright.

Approved for production by Leonard Cohen just before his 80th birthday in 2014, the film accesses a wealth of never-before-seen archival materials from the Cohen Trust including Cohen’s personal notebooks, journals and photographs, performance footage, and extremely rare audio recordings and interviews.

The Cornell Concert Series Presents The Smetana Trio
Friday, November 11, 2022, 8:00 PM

The Smetana Trio, the renowned piano trio from Czech Republic, performs at the Cornell Concert Series. Comprised of violinist Jan Talich, cellist Jan Pálenícek, and pianist Jitka Cechová, the Smetana Trio is widely considered one of today’s foremost chamber ensembles. “The performances are faultless,” writes The Guardian. Every aspect of their interpretation is carefully considered without losing an ounce of spontaneity… the listener is completely involved in the drama from first bar to last.”

The Trio presents works by Martinů, Rachmaninoff, and Smetana in their Ithaca program. Artist and program information, subscriptions, single tickets, and student memberships are available through the Concert Series website, cornellconcertseries.com.

Resources and Programs
Caregiver Support and Educational Network - What if Something Happens to Me?
October 25, 2022, at Noon via Zoom

Family caregivers by necessity become experts in providing long-term care. This specialized knowledge can include medication management, dietary requirements, understanding the best way to communicate with a person, transferring skills, toileting skills, and knowing specific emotional needs. But what happens if illness or injury should strike the caregiver? Who will step in to provide the needed essential care? How will they manage without the benefit of the family caregiver’s person-specific expertise and experience?

What If Something Happens to Me?” covers this important topic with information on how to manage your concerns, how to identify a backup caregiver, and what information to include so the backup caregiver can provide the best care possible in this situation. This session will include two checklists to help you plan. Program based on article and research done by Donna Schempp, LCSW and the Family Caregiver Alliance.

Please email worklife@cornell.edu for login details.
