CONGRATULATIONS SFX 6TH GRADE!

Great news from Mrs. Kelly Pak! Congratulations to St. Francis Xavier School’s 6th grade students on winning an award for the Metra Essay Contest! SFX had the most participation from one school in the entire Chicagoland area and as a result, our school will be awarded with a new laptop or desktop computer!

Lexi Robbins also received Honorable Mention for her Essay in the grade 5-8 division. Well done Lexi!

Metra reports “In year’s past we would invite representatives from the winning schools to be honored at Metra’s Board of Directors meeting held in June. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic we are canceling the awards ceremony this year. We will announce your school as the winner along with the other contest winners in May via Metra’s social media channels and press release”.
Here is the link to the website with the 2020 winners. St. Francis is listed at the top of the page. https://metrarail.com/node/7655 It is also posted on the Metra Contest Page on Facebook. Mrs. Pak reports that the SFX 6th grade wrote very good essays!

Mrs. Filbin's dog Fritz says...

" WOOF! Don't forget that you can return your library books this Thursday (5/21) and Friday (5/22) to the bin inside the doors of the South (playground) entrance."

Here are some guidelines that we've worked out:

  • Books can be returned on May 14, 15, 21 & 22 between the hours of 8-noon. Additionally, they can be returned on a TBD date when students return other supplies (iPads, etc.).

  • There will be a bin left inside the first set of doors on the South entrance of the school (parking lot playground doors) where books can be left.

  • No need to mark the books with your child's name, as it will be taken off of their account once I scan the book back in.

If you are unsure of whether or not your child has books out or what the titles are, please email me at kfilbin@sfxlg.org and I'll be happy to give you that information. Again, please don't tear your house apart looking for your library books -- they always turn up sooner or later and can certainly be returned in the fall! I miss your students so much and hope they are finding ways to keep reading. Summer book recommendations will be emailed to families before the end of the school year.
