Workshop on Online Job Searching & Resume Submittal
Wed. Sept. 23rd at 7pm

Are you one of the many people who are searching for work in this difficult job market right now? If it has been a few years since you looked for a job, you may find it's a whole new world that relies on many online search and application tools.

Gary Gekow, an experienced job-search coach, will help us analyze numerous online search tools including job alerts, job boards, job aggregators, and company employment pages.

There will also be a discussion about how to best utilize these web sites for submitting your resume, and a review of job search strategies.

Book Groups Starting Back Up This Month!
This year the Book Groups will be the same fun times, led by the same librarians, but, how they work will be a little different.

As we have with our Virtual Programs, Storytimes, and such, we plan on hosting our book groups via Zoom through at least the end of 2020.

That means that there will be a sign up form that needs to be filled out if you wish to participate in a group.

Each group has a different form that can be found on the Book Group page or on that month's entry in our Calendar of Events.

Once you sign up, you'll be put on hold for that month's book, and be sent the link to the Zoom Meeting all in one fell swoop!

New to Zoom or a bit wary of using it? We have a How-To Video to get you started.
In-Person Library Services are still available:

Monday Curbside Only - 10am - 6pm
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday - Building Open& Curbside Pick from 9am-6pm (first 1.5 hours for Seniors and At-Risk Visitors)
Fri Curbside Only - 10am - 3pm
Saturdays & Sundays - CLOSED

Hours may change in September. So, please visit our website for the most complete and current information.
Book Sale Slated to Return this Month
We've had questions, we've had queries, we've had very sad faces of all ages. Now we have good news!

The Friends of the Nevins Library are moving forward to plan a safe, socially-distanced Book Sale to open at some point during the week of September 21st

The Sale will be open for several weeks, during limited weekday and perhaps some weekend hours. The number of people allowed to shop at any particular time will be limited, and shoppers will be required to wear masks, and follow social-distancing guidelines.

Hours for the Sale will be announced in early September.
Teen Summer Reading Programs Continue Online!
Enough of the Adult stuff, right?

We have so many fun Virtual Activities for Teens in September and beyond that we don't know where to start.

If you're looking for something to read you can join the new Reader's Advisory group via Zoom to talk about books you've enjoyed so far, and get suggestions for new books.

Looking for something to watch? All you need is the Netflix Watch Party Chrome App, and to keep an eye on the Nevins Library Teen Facebook Page for a link.

Looking for a safe space to hang out and be yourself? LGBT+ identifying teens and allies are welcome to join Rainbow Club via Zoom.

Email our Teen Services Librarian, Alison, acochrane@nevinslibrary.org, with questions, comments, or concerns.
What's Happening in Children's?
A Little September Breather!
Between the uncertainty about school starting and trying to adapt to the “new normal” of the re-opened library, we thought it best to step back and let the dust settle before we offered a whole bunch of new programming.

But, have no fear, we still have many fun virtual programs for our young readers.

In addition to weekly Babies & Books, we’ll be offering two Read & Play programs, as well as a special Pirate Stories session, a Snacktivity cooking program, and a new evening PJ Storytime (programs are still virtual, via Zoom or Facebook).

And we’ll still be posting read-alouds on Facebook and our website regularly!

Last but not least, we know that people often like to stop by to get their kids’ weekend reading on Fridays — but since the library isn’t open to the public for browsing then, we’ll set up a pop-up library outside on the library grounds a couple of Fridays this month.

It’s been wonderful to see some familiar faces in the Children’s Room since we re-opened, and we look forward to seeing you in the months to come.
