Giving Kids the Advantage

Thank you for Joining Us for the

17th Annual Denise McCoy Literacy Award Event

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 17th Annual Denise McCoy Literacy Award Event at the Fort Orange Club on November 9th. This year's winner was InvestiGATORS: Off the Hook by John Patrick Green.

The Denise McCoy Literacy Award, formerly known as the Little d award, honors the author of the previous year’s most humorous children’s book as recommended by the Albany Public Library Youth Librarians and selected by the award committee.

Funds raised through this event are used to expand children’s literacy programs in our area and the Denise McCoy Scholarship Fund.

It was so great to be back in person after 2 virtual ceremonies and to see many familiar faces along with some new ones. Thank you to everyone who came out and attended this fun event! To our sponsors, we are humbled by your generous support!

This time of year, there are so many ways you can support our organization from simply volunteering your time and talents to be shared with our kids, or organizing a school supply or book drive that will help provide our kids with all they need. Below are some initiatives to help you decide how you can help make a difference. We thank you in advance for your LOVE and support.

2022 Year End Appeal

Dear Friend,

Hello there, my name is Nasiru. I am a 15-LOVE alum and instructor. This program has played a key role in developing me as a person, giving me a foundation and helping me figure out who I am. I’ve gotten to meet many interesting people who have given me many opportunities to showcase my abilities, for which I am very grateful.
