Cal/OSHA Withdraws COVID-19 Guidance
Updates Proposed Last Week
The California Department of Public Health released face coverings guidance to take effect on June 15, 2021; see full press release.

-------------
The California Department of Public Health released Guidance for Face Coverings for the public to align with CDC guidance. The updated guidance will go into effect on June 15, 2021 when the state reopens its economy. In the workplace, employers are subject to Cal/OSHA Covid-19 Emergency Temporary Standards. Separately, Cal/OSHA on Wednesday withdrew the pending regulation, which was under review by a state administrative board, to allow the agency to consider changes to its proposal at a June 17th meeting that could potentially go into effect by the end of June. For more information, please see Cal/OSHA’s press release.

In the meantime, the current policy remains in effect. Workers must wear face masks in the workplace in most settings, and employers must provide them. Workers must maintain physical distancing and employers must take measures such as staggering shifts or adding cough barriers, to make that possible.
