WELCOME TO THE
HISTORIC VIRGINIA RANGE MUSTANGS NEWSLETTER
FROM
HIDDEN VALLEY WILD HORSE PROTECTION FUND

Thank you for following us and keeping up with the latest news about our beloved
Virginia Range Mustangs!!

THE FIGHT GOES ON FOR OUR HORSES DESPITE PHYSICAL DISTANCING!!!

All of us at Hidden Valley Wild Horse Protection Fund want to reach out to everyone at this incredibly bizarre time in our lives to say THANK YOU to the droves of amazing heroes who are working so very hard and diligently to make sure our communities and loved ones are safe and prepared.

We are grateful to those who are making the hard decisions needed to keep the impact from this deadly virus at the lowest levels possible. In Nevada, we owe a huge THANK YOU!!!!!!!! to our Governor Steve Sisolak for shutting down businesses at the right time, including our casinos, which are very important and vital to our economy. If we have all done it right, acted appropriately, and continue to support our local businesses where we can, then we will come out of this a much better, kinder, and more thoughtful society – without COVID-19!!!!

As President of Hidden Valley Wild Horse Protection Fund, I am very concerned for the health and safe-keeping of the volunteers who are out in the streets and on the range helping our wild ones to be safe and well - on the range where they belong!!!! Please continue to follow the guidelines set out by those who are knowledgeable, trained, and have the scientific information necessary to keep us humans safe and informed.

Once this is all over, we will make every effort to celebrate with our families, friends, co-workers, community members, volunteers, donors, and supporters. We will also join with and take the time to support and mourn with those who have been negatively affected by this virus.

Feel free to follow the activities of our local rescue workers who concentrate their efforts primarily on the Virginia Range horses - Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue facebook page  Please note - this Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue facebook page is used for rescue discussions and not random postings. Join to follow their work and support their efforts. Find out more at www.whmentors.org
Be safe – stay calm,
Shannon Windle, President
Hidden Valley Wild Horse Protection Fund

REASONS TO CELEBRATE FOR OUR HORSES, DESPITE THESE CHANGING TIMES!!!

As we have all found, despite these changing times, life goes on. We have embraced new challenges, overcome our fears, and continued to work for and support those who need us most!!!!
We are so very proud of the work our volunteers have accomplished thus far for our rescued herd. But our work is not over. We still have miles to go. And through it all, we have been fortunate enough to cross paths with many wonderful, good, caring people who know they can make a difference in the lives of others.
We are so very proud to announce the adoption of (not 1 but) 4 of our beautiful rescued wild ones!!!!! Read on!!!

LIZZIE AND THE CENTER FOR ADAPTIVE RIDING
When you find good people helping others, you know you are in wonderful company! We met the amazing team of volunteers from the Center for Adaptive Riding several years ago and have been following their progress and achievements since . An opening for another horse in their stable became available and through our partnership with Equine Legacy Ranch, we were able to introduce them to our sweet Lizzie. The group immediately recognized her incredible potential as a therapeutic riding horse, fell in love with this amazing little mare, and agreed to dedicate several members to evaluate and train her for what will become a very important job. As a therapeutic riding horse, Lizzie will be facilitating therapeutic riding for the purpose of contributing positively to the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social well-being of individuals with special needs.

Please visit www.adaptiveriding.org for more information about this wonderful group and the programs they offer our community!
THANK YOU TO THE CENTER FOR ADAPTIVE RIDING for taking our wee Lizzie into your family and welcoming her to your stable!!

AZUL AND ABBY – A BEAUTIFUL MATCH!!!!!

Another beautiful match for horse and human is the flourishing union between our gelding Azul and his new human, Abby!!
They found each other while working with Lizzie through the joint-partnerships with CAR and Equine Legacy Ranch. Abby immediately took a shine to our handsome blue-eyed boy and their relationship immediately blossomed.
Abby’s work with Azul has made him a changed gelding – he’s confident, settled, calm, and loves to be hugged!!!! She has dedicated countless hours to his care and training and it is so clear to see not only how much he loves the work but also how much loves Abby!

THANK YOU TO ABBY for wrapping our Azul in love and confidence! We look forward to keeping up with his progress and future successes!!

HAPPY DAYS FOR CINDER, CHIPPER AND TRACY!!!

Tracy never realized what she was getting herself into when she offered to help care for 2 of our special needs kids. But because of her compassion and deep dedication to making a difference in the lives of these 2 horses, a wonderful relationship evolved that brought a tremendously positive difference to their futures. Cinder received a severe attack to her rear leg. Chipper was born with a hoof deformity. Tracy was born with a huge heart and enormous sense of compassion.
Tracy's willingness to spend countless hours working with both these horses has changed their lives and created a positive and remarkable future path for them together. Thanks to the work and astute guidance of the Wild Horse Mentors LRTC group, Tracy has successfully gentled them and developed a bond with both horses that has left a strong, trusting impact on each of their lives.

THANK YOU TO TRACY for seeing these horse kids for the amazing, good creatures they are!!!
