Note From Principal Atkins

Families,

Happy February, and happy Black History Month! If you haven't had a chance to check out the email I sent earlier this week, be sure to check it out here as it's filled with excellent Black History Month Resources.

It was an honor to be featured on CBS4 this week, I hope you had a chance to view the segment. If not, you can see it in our Stedman News video below or here. I couldn't be more proud of the work we're doing to not only grow our students academically, but in emotional and social intelligence as well.

February is a great month for us to focus on ZEST. Don't forget, Zest can look like:
  • actively participating
  • showing enthusiasm
  • approaching new situations with excitement and energy

During the month of February, help us encourage Zest in our young people!

We are wrapping up the Round 1 SchoolChoice window and planning for next year. While DPS and many nearby schools are seeing declining enrollment trends, Stedman is projected to continue growing. The growth requires intentionally planning, though with growth comes an increase in funding, so we are looking forward to the possibilities for next year. If you have NOT completed your retention survey, please do so here. This helps us know how many students we can accept for the coming year. We appreciate your help with this.

Due to the snow this week, PTA is meeting this coming Wednesday night via Zoom and/or in person. Be sure to check out this amazing community who works so hard to support our students and staff. We couldn't be who we are without them!

Please continue to practice safety out and about, and be sure to alert our office of any exposures or positive test results so we can monitor students as needed. Enjoy your weekend!
