Catholic Social Action Office
Archdiocese of Cincinnati
Greetings all!

These times continue to be a whirlwind, and there doesn't seem to be any end in sight. The struggle continues for racial justice and equity, the global pandemic rages on, school and work remain uncertain, and it's an election year! And still we persevere with faith and hope, always working to bring about God's kingdom. Please know that we continue to pray and support you, and we humbly ask that you continue to pray for us too.

If there's anything that we can do to support the work happening in your community, please let us know. We're trying to be more present to deaneries, parishes, and neighborhoods, and we'd love to (re)connect w/ you and work with to build up God's kingdom of peace, justice, and kinship.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We will continue to send out Regional Updates with time-sensitive reminders as well as Action Alerts encouraging everyone to bring their voice and power to bear on important issues and COVID-19 Information as it becomes available.

We wish you a wonderful 4th of July and continuation of summer. And - as always - we look forward to seeing you soon as we continue to stand up for justice, compassion, and equity.

Peace,
Becky, Sara, Tammie, Sr. Christine, & Andrew

A Mask is a Sign of Solidarity
Please know - we VERY STRONGLY encourage you to follow the guidelines set out by the  CDC, the  Archdiocese , and  state public health officials. We also encourage to think about those who are less privileged and more vulnerable and consider how you can be in solidarity with them, treating them as your sisters and brothers in Christ.

Wearing a face mask is an act of solidarity. In doing so we protect those around us.

Support ongoing work of the Ignatian Solidarity Network to mobilize the Ignatian family to work for justice, with the purchase of a mask.

The Dismas Journey

The Dismas Task Force strives to support returning citizens and journey with them as they return successfully to society. In order to tell their stories, we have created the Dismas Journey  which shares both the challenges faced by returning citizen and the joy that comes from building bridges of solidarity between returning citizens and the community through service and advocacy.

We invite parish and community leaders to join us on Wed., July 22, at 7:00pm to view an abbreviated version (45 minutes) of the journey. Our hope is that - after viewing the presentation - you'll want to bring the full presentation back to your parish, school, organization, or community.

This will be a virtual meeting, and registration is required. Please click here to register and direct any questions to Andrew Musgrave.

COVID-19, Catholic Social Teaching and the Path Forward

Bellarmine Chapel is hosting a live stream with Dr. John Sniegocki on Monday, July 6 at 7:00 PM

Catholic social teaching advocates economic equity and concern for the most vulnerable, providing a valuable lens for exploring the coronavirus crisis and its effects. Professor Sniegocki will draw on Catholic social teaching to consider the disparate impacts of the COVID-19 crisis and what these impacts reveal concerning the need for structural changes in the United States and the broader world. He will show that Catholic social teaching offers critical insights for the path forward in this challenging moment.

Unified Cincy Prayer Walk

Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 10 AM - 12 PM

Yeatmans Cove Park
705 E Pete Rose Way, Cincinnati 45202

Our world is aching for unity. While our situation might seem hopeless, the church is uniquely prepared to offer hope. The message of reconciliation is central to the Gospel. That's why we are gathering together; people from every color, culture, and class around the Tri-State are taking God's message of hope on the move.

When we take our faith on the move, things change. Waters are parted, walls fall down, and healing takes place. God is calling us to take a step towards justice. Join us July 11th at 10am.

I will go before you and make the rough places smooth; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron bars. Isaiah 45:2

We strongly encourage you to wear a mask and respect social distance guidelines of staying six feet apart.

Stand with Asylum Seekers at this Crisis Moment

The Trump administration is proposing  a rule that would effectively end asylum once and for all. This is a crisis moment and historic low point with life or death consequences for some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
