The majority of GGUSD students attend their school of residence or the neighborhood school closest to their home. However, GGUSD has a process that allows families who live within GGUSD boundaries to apply for a transfer from one GGUSD school to another (intra-district transfer) and families living outside of GGUSD boundaries to apply for a transfer into the district (inter-district transfer). The transfer application window for the 2022-2023 school year is open now through February 28. The transfer application process is completely online so there is no longer a need to come to the district office to complete your application. To begin a transfer application, visit https://ggusd.us/transfers.
Students who live within the GGUSD boundaries and are currently on an intra-district transfer do not need to complete a transfer application unless they are moving levels from elementary to intermediate or intermediate to high. If your student is moving from 6th grade to 7th grade or 8th grade to 9th grade, please complete the online transfer application process. Students who are currently or wish to be on an inter-district transfer into GGUSD from another district and are awaiting a release from their home district should contact the Office of Student Services at (714) 663-6391 with any questions or concerns.
All transfers are subject to space availability at the school selected and applicable regulations. School transportation for any student approved for a school transfer is the responsibility of the student’s parent or guardian.
If you have questions about the transfer process, please contact the Office of Student Services at (714) 663-6391.
