Dear poolee, recruit, Marine, and Veteran family members,

On Gold Star Family Day*, we come together to honor those who have lost a loved one serving in the U.S. military by lighting a luminary on the last Sunday in September.

Even though large Luminary events won't likely be possible this year, it is still possible to show your support for Gold Star Families. Even lighting one Luminary on your front porch will show that their loved ones sacrifice has not been forgotten.

We would like to ask each of you to reach out to your State Capitol to get permission for you or just a handful of people in your small circle to light luminary bags at your State Capitol Building on the evening of Gold Star Family Day, September 27, 2020. Then send us your photos so we can share them with our Gold Star family members.

Our goal is to surpass the number of pledges and participants from the 2019 Luminary Initiative. In 2019, 394 people signed the pledge and 2,628 people participated. We have already surpassed last year's number of participants. Currently, 218 people have signed the pledge and there are 3,348 participants! We encourage those who haven't already, to sign the pledge and share this message with their friends and family.
