Principal's Message:

“When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard nor welcomed, but when we are silent we are still afraid, so it is better to speak." - Audre Lorde

This week we start honoring Black History Month and celebrating the brilliance, joy, and achievements of Black Americans. At Roosevelt, our students have led the way in planning events, celebrations, and spirit weeks.

While we honor students, staff, families, and ancestors, we are also living through moments of pain in our community. We stand with our community in calling for justice. We also acknowledge that students may experience traumatic events in different ways. If you need support for your student, do not hesitate to reach out to school staff.

Next week, on February 11th we will host the first of a series of conversations in our Community Cafe Series, led by students, on the Importance of Language and what to do when we make mistakes. I encourage all to check out the flyer below and save the date.

I hope that our celebrations and honors of Black History are just the beginning of celebrations throughout the year. As a reminder, please continue to encourage masking to ensure we can celebrate together. We'd like to hold events and learning in person for the remainder of the school year but that will only happen if we continue to adhere to the masking policy.

Thank you, as always, for your support,

Mr. Ledesma

Instead of going to amazon.com, go to smile.amazon.com. Register and select Minneapolis Theodore Roosevelt High School Foundation as your charity. Each time you shop at smile.amazon the Foundation will receive a small percentage of your purchase.

By doing this you are helping give scholarships to Roosevelt students and grants to staff without it costing you a penny?

You just have to remember to go to smile.amazon.com instead of Amazon…..same merchandise, same prices, same service. Thank YOU!
