Greetings!

2020 was a tough year, AND PortSide delivered. We’ve been so busy, we haven’t produced newsletters or blogposts much of the year. We’re fixing that now with four uplifting, weekly newsletters and blogposts in December. Want some good news? We’ll give you a lot of it in these messages:

  • How we recruited Covid medical assistance for Red Hook.
  • Pivoted and programmed virtually.
  • Created a park that served over 16,000.
  • Brought many performances of live music to the music-starved public.
  • Hosted an opera that is being distributed nationally, virtually
  • Scored a new vintage engine for our ship.
  • Started talks with partners to launch Coast-Guard certified training programs.
  • And more.

Check out the first December blogpost here

Please support us with an end of year donation, with whatever you can. How to do that here.

PortSide experienced a steep loss of City funding due to the pandemic, AND our marine insurance costs are soaring because insurers have been paying out for all those hurricanes and now Covid.

Your donation will help us cover the resulting shortfall AND support the kind of innovative and impactful programs that PortSide delivered in 2020. We did a LOT despite challenges that include having our pier shut to the public making the ship inaccessible!

PortSide consistently pivots, invents, overcomes obstacles and delivers. Please donate now to support our impact.

Please forward this newsletter to everyone you know or get a link for posting on social media by clicking View as Webpage

TODAY, you can also come talk to us in person at the Red Hook Holiday Market 10-6pm. It’s socially-distanced on sidewalks around Red Hook, and we’ll be set up next to our ship MARY A. WHALEN in our Pandemic PopUp minipark. Directions here

We’ll be selling PortSide t-shirts, telling our story and collecting donations, and giving away used kids toys and books. We have live music from 12-3pm with 4 great acts that usually play at Sunny's Bar. Come support Red Hook small business and support PortSide!

Happy Holidays and check out some photos below.

Best,

Carolina Salguero
Founder & Executive Director
