May 2021 at Place des Arts
home to our arts community
Greetings!

May brings longer days and many positive vibes at Place des Arts.

The past couple of months have brought on a lot of reflection. Since we went into lockdown a year ago in March, it has made us at Place des Arts think about all we've accomplished, overcome and created as a result of COVID-19. Read more about our year in the pandemic. What have you accomplished, overcome or created in the last year?

If you haven't registered yet, we still have space in our Summer Fun! Art Camps. Now is also the time to register for summer Music private lessons or for group and private Dance classes. View the summer guide for details.

If you want to show your love of Place des Arts, grab some of our new PdA branded merchandise from our Artisan Shop. Find out more below.

Enjoy the wonderful weather and stay safe!

A year on in a pandemic
Last March, after the first day of our Spring Break Camp, we closed our building to the public due to worsening conditions of COVID-19. There was so much uncertainty as we embarked into completely unknown territory. As an organization whose core service is the delivery of in-person arts education programs, we had many questions to answer and decisions to make. What would we do? How would we do it? What about our self-employed teachers and artists? Our students? How long would this situation last?

Thank you to our volunteers!
In April, Volunteer Appreciation Week took place! We want to give a shout out to all of our wonderful volunteers who have been pivotal to our organization even during this difficult time. See the full post here.

Currently, we are seeking Summer Fun! Volunteers. Find out more here.

Since April, Imagine Van Gogh, an immersive touring art exhibition, has been on at the Vancouver Convention Centre. This event has been sold out for all of March and April so now is your chance to attend! It will be running until August 29, 2021, but sells out fast!

With Provincial Health Orders, please stay informed on COVID-19 updates and keep an eye on future events to ensure it is not cancelled.
Art and Belonging

"Although I am a typical loner in my daily life, my awareness of belonging to the invisible community of those who strive for truth, beauty, and justice has prevented me from feelings of isolation."
