A Word From Our Rector

Dear All Saints Family,

This week brings a profusion of color and variety in what I see before us.

+ I salute the wisdom so deep in you individually and in our rich ministries. A beautiful example of this comes from our dear Eve Turek and her artistry. Thanks to Tom O'Brien we have the following news article about her to celebrate. Enjoy reading it HERE.

+ I welcome anyone and everyone who can help in our office in the coming few weeks as we go without an administrator and still have much to do. Please see the sign-up genius option that Dawn so beautifully put together if you can help. Computer skills are great though not essential. Thanks in advance for help!

Kim Lane, who faithfully served as our administrator, continues in her stroke recovery and we invite all who wish to contribute to a "love offering" for her. Feel free to make checks payable to All Saints and note "Kim Lane offering" in the memo line. This will greatly help her with medical expenses and more. My discretionary fund will come in handily here as well. When Kim is back home Jen Adams-Falconer will coordinate some meals for her as well.

Ruthie Charlton would like to rejuvenate our Solo group for interested single parishioners. More from her on this is below.

+ Our folks who met with concerns re. gun violence bring news. See below.

+ Last but not least, we will send you a meditation on our upcoming Sunday scriptures each Friday in the coming weeks as we step into our stewardship season, "More than Enough." Even in hard times, our cups runneth over with God's love, grace, and provision.

Every blessing and color of fall be yours, with love and gratitude,

Rev. Cindy

Bishop Skirving Visitation

Bishop Robert Skirving visits us on October 30th! We will hold only ONE service this day, in the sanctuary at 10am, with a festive coffee hour and time with him to follow. All loose offerings on that day will be given to the Bishop's Discretionary Fund to be used for needs of the Church not covered by the diocesan budget.

Seeking Lay Eucharistic Ministers and Lay Readers

Are you interested in serving as a part of our services on Sunday?

Are you confirmed in the Episcopal church?

Then you could serve as a Lay Eucharistic Minister or LEM.

Would you be interested in reading the lessons or prayers of the people? You could be a lay reader in our services.

We would love to have more parishioners participate in our services and are looking for people that would be interested in one of these roles especially at our 10:30 services.

Cindy would provide training for these roles.

If you are interested, please contact Nancy Atkinson at nancy.atkinson1960@gmail.com or 804.874.0508.

Holly Days Gourmet Bake Shop

We are getting closer to Holly Days, and I want all of you to think about what you would like to bake or make for the Holly Days Gourmet Bake Sale. As you know, our items for the bake sale are homemade. We put a lot of time, effort and money in supplying our homemade goods. Our Outer Banks community has come to expect great things to purchase even though our prices are higher than the local supermarkets.

Don't be afraid to try something new. My mother always said, "if you can read, you can cook." So, get out those cookbooks and review something you would like to try. You can make the desserts, hors d'oeuvres, preserves or candies your family just loves. We also sell dog biscuits! Don't forget we have refrigerators to keep the items cold. If you are making items ahead of time and need a place to freeze and keep frozen, we can use the freezer in the teen room.

Thank you for your time and happy baking!  Arline

Holly Days Silent Auction

The Silent Auction needs items: Do you have a favorite restaurant, store or business from whom you could request a gift certificate? They are very popular at the Silent Auction. They are also good advertising for the donating business, and all proceeds go back into the community.

Do you have a desirable item of good quality and in good condition that you no longer want or need? It could be a piece of art work, or pottery or knitting, etc., not merely a white elephant.

Call or text Roisin with any questions: 757-286-2295, All donations can be given to Roisin by Nov. 17, or items may be left in the office reception area, certificates in the church office tagged 'Silent Auction.' Forms for donating businesses can be found in Roisin's Pastoral Care mailbox.

Food Pantry Volunteers Needed

There is another opportunity to support our local food pantry and community. Volunteers are needed Monday, October 24th, Tuesday, October 25th, and Wednesday, October 26th from 1:45 to 4:00 pm.

Due to increase in client needs, three volunteers are necessary each day. If you can support this effort, please contact Sue Lynch via email sslynch.obx@gmail.com or phone 804-389-9879.

The attached article, "Caregivers Struggling to Provide Care," is an essential read for those involved in the vital role of caregiving. The text discusses proposals from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Administration for Community Living directed at alleviating caregiver burnout and creating opportunities for caregiver respite.
