FBISD seniors named winners of regional bilingual/ESL scholarships
Three Fort Bend ISD graduating seniors were among the winners of the inaugural TexTESOL (Texas Teachesr of English to Students of Other Languages) Region IV High School Senior Scholarship. The students, Noamaan Mulla (Kempner High School), Estephani Murillo (Willowridge High School) and Harrison Wang (Elkins High School), are three of the six regional winners named in the 2020 TexTESOL scholarship program. Dulles High School students create online publication, FBISD: The Progress Bar
During their At-home learning phase of instruction this semester, Math and Science Academy students Jayanth Pratap and Saloni Modi created an online publication that includes COVID-19 experiences and knowledge as shared by FBISD students in grades 4-11. FBISD students recognized in 2020 National Scholastic Art & Writing awards program
Eight Fort Bend ISD visual art students are recognized in the 2020 National Art & Writing awards program for outstanding works of art. They are among students from across the globe to submit nearly 320,000 original works of art in 29 categories. Overall, the FBISD students earned 10 medals: four gold, one silver with distinction, four silver and one American Visions medal.
Derek Jiang named finalist in 2020 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest
Austin High School junior Derek Jiang was selected as a finalist and among the top 25 students honored in the 2020 Profile in Courage Essay Contest, sponsored by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. This year’s contest received 2,787 entries from students across the country. As a finalist, Jiang received a $1,000 cash award and a certificate of participation.
