Living Into Our Values
The 2021-22 Annual Stewardship Campaign
March 21 – April 11, 2021
Our pledge drive is ending this Sunday, and Thank You! We are nearly 85% of our goal, which is totally within reach, if all who have not yet pledged, complete their pledge by this Sunday.
After Sunday, the budget committee will begin to financially shape the work and activities of the next program year.
For this, next and every year, our Unitarian Universalist community
strives to expand the space we hold for each other. It is not easy. To live into our values we must be vulnerable and tenacious with each other. “Tenacious people are those who expect to have to try and try again to get it right...people who are much more willing to get innovative and creative in their efforts, to show up as leaders and parents and educators in new and uncomfortable ways,” and to practice our core values Click Here that we hold up as important in our Fellowship and in our culture.
We, the members of the stewardship committee--Ann McCrow, Carol Schimke, Kerstin Kerstin Ahlgren Breidenthal, Intern Minister Sangye Hawke, and Rev. Russ--thank you for your support of and presence in our community. And, for each and every contribution of time, treasure and talent that you invest in the UUFSCC, we recognize that you are restating your commitment to do this work and to a value-aligned practice that reflects who we want to be. We don’t have to be perfect, just engaged and committed to aligning values with action, and in so doing help one another live more wholeheartedly.
Please make your pledge before April 11 when the campaign ends. Go to the "Donate or Pledge" link on the main page of our website or click here.

It’s coming
Blessing of the Animals on April 25th!
In these Covid times, adoption of animals emptied shelters and filled homes. Our animal family members have been at our sides, accompanying us through joys and sorrows, news cycles and isolation, and have an intimate knowledge of the discomfort of vaccinations.
We cannot gather in person, but please, if you are tech minded and creative, send a video of you and your pet to Intern Minister Sangye at : sangye@uufscc.org. Your video should only be 2 minutes long. Tell us your pet’s name, day of adoption/birth, and a story of how they currently help or have rescued YOU in the past.
If you have lost a beloved pet family member, please send a digital photo to the same address. Please include the name of your pet and when your beloved pet left this earthly plane.
Thank you all for participating in creating the most audacious Pet Blessing to date!
Watch this space for more information about how to participate LIVE on the day of Blessing!

Shared Plate Recipient for April 2021
Native Animal Rescue (NAR)
Native Animal Rescue (NAR) is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured, sick, and orphaned wildlife in Santa Cruz County. They work tirelessly to increase human understanding and respect for wildlife and their habitats by educating our human neighbors on the benefits of coexisting with our wild neighbors.
NAR is an organization of expert rehabilitators who are trained to diagnose, treat, rehabilitate, and release wild animals back to the wild in accordance with California Department of Fish and Wildlife standards, they also receive and care for distressed wild animals brought to them by concerned citizens. They also work closely with veterinarians to medically treat and rehabilitate injured, sick, and oiled wildlife to provide care for them until they can be safely released back into the wild.
This year they are celebrating 40 years of serving our community all from their humble shelter, a former family home, on 17th avenue.

Farm Worker Families Donations
Farm workers have a tough stretch at this time of year, not able to get back to work until April. We can help by donating necessary goods.
Some food needs are rice, beans, masa and cooking oil.
For the house, bath soap, dish soap and laundry detergent are especially needed.
For winter weather, warm coats are welcome.
Consider picking up some of these items as you shop, or pull an unused coat from your closet, then bring the items to the Fellowship between 8 am and 3 pm, Monday through Friday. Lorraine Sandoval will take them from there to where they can be distributed. Call Lorraine if you have any questions,831-728-3533
