CAM's 71st Annual Men's Doubles Classic Takes Place February 26th
|
|
The annual Men's Doubles Classic is a long-time CAM tradition and is one of the most popular social events of the year. A yearly average of 360 bowlers have enjoyed this fun-filled day at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park. Registration is set to start at 10:30 a.m. that day, with bowling, dinner, awards and prizes to follow. CLICK HERE for an event flyer and tournament rules and regulations. CAM Magazine Special Issue 2022 Call for Entries
|
|
CAM Magazine’s Special Issue is published each October, highlighting the 12 most outstanding construction projects of the year. Entries must be constructed or designed by a CAM member company, and must have been completed – or reached substantial completion – between June 2021 and June 2022. The deadline for this year's submissions is Friday, March 11th.
As an added bonus to being featured in Special Issue 2022, the General Contractors / CMs / Architects of each winning project will be presented with a commemorative plaque at an award ceremony held at CAM's annual trade show. They will also be eligible to be voted as the CAM 2022 Project of the Year. CLICK HERE for more information and to submit a project. You can view last year's October Special Issue HERE.

This course is recommended for employees with a responsibility for site safety. It covers OSHA policies, procedures and standards, as well as construction safety and health principles. Topics include the scope and application of the OSHA construction standards including inspections, citations and appeals, as well as employee & employer rights under the Act. Upon completion of the course, students receive an OSHA construction safety and health 30-Hour course completion card.

This program is intended to educate workers and project managers
about the hazards associated with and safeguards needed to protect workers during excavation activities. In this program participants will learn the rules contained in both MIOSHA’s CS Part 9: Excavation Standard, CS Part 15: for excavation equipment and
OSHA’s 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P Excavation Standard. Participants will review case studies and participate in hands-on scenario-based activities

Gov. Whitmer Creates Michigan Infrastructure Office
|
|
On January 13th, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer established the Michigan Infrastructure Office to ensure resources sent to Michigan under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Plan, are used effectively and efficiently to repair roads and bridges, replace lead pipes, expand high-speed internet, and build up electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The Michigan Infrastructure Office will be responsible for organizing and executing the state's vision for infrastructure, coordinating across state government, marshaling resources, and partnering with local and federal partners to invest in Michigan’s infrastructure. Congratulations to MDOT's Work Zone Safety Award Winners
|
|
A collaborative task force between the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the heavy construction industry, this program recognizes partnerships between all parties working on a Michigan roadway project to achieve a positive safety culture. Any MDOT-let project during the 2021 construction season was eligible. Awards were given in three categories: small, medium, and large.
The small project award went to the concrete pavement repair project on I-96 in Kent and Ionia counties. Contractor: C&D Hughes, Inc.; MDOT engineer: Tanya Pawlukiewicz. The medium project award was won by the I-675 repair project in Saginaw. Contractor: C.A. Hull; MDOT engineer: Brian Ulman. The large project award was given to the I-275 rebuilding project in Wayne and Monroe counties. Contractor: Dan’s Excavating, Inc.; MDOT engineer: Jeff Horne. CLICK HERE to read the full story.
