CGS Weekly: April 18, 2021
THIS SUNDAY MORNING
Our in-person worship service will be at 10:30am in the sanctuary this Sunday, April 18. If you have not already signed up to attend the in-person worship service, you may do so here. Don't forget to bring your mask.

Quick update regarding sanctuary seating for Sunday April 18:
We greatly appreciated your flexibility and thoughtfulness on Easter Sunday: we were able to comfortably and (we trust) safely seat all who were able to join us! At present, we are going to continue that same simple and straightforward approach to seating within our sanctuary:

  • If you know yourself to be safely risk-tolerant (because of the private particulars of your own health profile) and are thus willing to sit in more densely configured seating areas please feel welcome to sit in our balcony.

  • If the balcony is not a wise place for you, yet you have persons (family, close friends) that you would be comfortable sharing a pew with if the pew itself is spaced from other pews, please arrange to arrive with your group and ask to be seated together downstairs on the main sanctuary floor. Group seating arrangements are more efficient, and help us make room available for others!

We currently have a limited number of spots available for the nursery + preschool playrooms. View details and availability here.

For those of you who will be worshipping virtually, the livestream will be available here at 10:30am. If you're unable to tune in live, you may access a recording of the service at the same link after the conclusion of the live service.

In an effort to limit handouts as much as possible, we will not be distributing a printed bulletin at the in-person service on Sunday. You may access the digital bulletin for this week's service here.

We will be providing special materials in packets for your kids during the service. Please bring along your favorite coloring utensils (crayons, washable markers, pencils) to use.

As a reminder, you may give to CGS online here. (If you have questions, you may reference this online giving tutorial here.) You may also mail a check to the church (3741 Garrett Rd, Durham, NC 27707) if you prefer.

This week's Sermon Discussion Guide will be sent to community group leaders on Sunday, and posted here on Monday.

Global Outreach Spotlight
Meet: Peter & Diane Bakelaar, and their children Keagan, Rita, Evan and Wendy
Peter and Diane have served in Japan since 1990. The team has planted four churches, including one where Peter preaches in Japanese. They’ve also started The International Christian Academy in Nagoya, where Diane serves on the school's advisory committee. This school is growing and complements the ministry of the church plant, with the parents of the children in the school showing interest in Bible study. Peter’s responsibilities include evangelistic Bible studies, discipleship, and communication of the gospel in Japanese through special events and messages. Diane serves in many aspects of the team’s ministry including hospitality in the home.

Pray: Praise that God has increased their network tremendously since moving to Seto in August of 2020! The Seto Town Renewal Committee has approached them to assist them in helping others in the community. God is opening doors of service for them to demonstrate the character of God. Pray they would be able to raise the funds to hire a Japanese national staff worker to assist in their ministry, which will enable them to multiply their outreach and effectiveness.

CONDOLENCES
SYMPATHY

CGS NURSERY + PRESCHOOL PLAY ROOMS
As a reminder, we have opened up a limited number of rooms in the CGS nursery for families with children ages 3 & under to use during the in-person service on Sunday mornings. There will be NO CGS volunteers staffing these rooms, so one parent is required to stay with the child for the duration of the service. Reservations are required, and slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. We will place the nursery + preschool play room sign-ups on the same page as the in-person worship service sign-ups each week. If you have questions, please contact RiLee Robeson..
