April Maintenance Guidelines
  • If you haven't already, fertilize shrubs with Marcum's 18-6-12, or one of our ferti-lome fertilizer mixes.
  • Add organic Redbud Compost to revitalize your soil nutrients while planting new plants.  
  • Apply ferti-lome Systemic Insecticide Drench to trees and shrubs to keep insects away. 
  • Apply ferti-lome Rose & Flower Food with Systemic Insecticide to your roses once a month throughout the growing season.
  • Apply ferti-lome's Systemic Fungicide to prevent mildew and leaf spot diseases for roses, photinias, etc. 
  • Don't prune spring flowering bushes until all blooming is complete.
  • Fertilize warm-season grasses three to five times per season using one of Marcum's (31-0-0, 28-6-12, or 18-6-12) special blends. We will help you select the best blend that suits your needs.

Alyssum
Alyssum is a  semi-trailing,  vigorous grower covered in dainty, white flowers that bloom in early spring to frost. This annual will take full sun to partial shade and needs regular watering. Great for mixed containers and hanging baskets.

How can I prevent diseases on my plants and shrubs this spring?

 

Spring usually brings about rain and damp soil which can cause powdery mildew, black spot, and other leaf fungi on your plants and shrubs. These fugal diseases are preventable by using a fungicide. Ferti-lome's Liquid Systemic Fungicide II prevents and controls major diseases on roses, flowers, lawns, trees & shrubs. Bayer Advanced 3-in-1 Insect, Disease, & Mite Control is another fungus preventative option. In addition to controlling fungus, it also offers a cure for aphids, spider mites, Japanese beetles & many other pests!
