Last week Alameda County Supervisors approved a program to pay a one-time stipend of $1250 to people with a positive COVID test to self-isolate at home. The initiative will help those who don’t have paid sick leave and don’t qualify for unemployment or stimulus money. The program is aimed at essential employees, day laborers, undocumented workers, and those at businesses too small to provide benefits. Individuals must be referred by one of several approved neighborhood clinics.
Ten million dollars has been committed to the program which should help 7,500 people. The County has not yet announced when the program will begin..
