Reaching FRC Agencies During COVID-19

The two FRC buildings remain closed but the 23 agencies continue to support our community remotely via phone with many setting up phone or video appointments and a third providing in-person appointments when needed.

Alameda County to Pay COVID Patients $1250 To Stay Home 
Last week Alameda County Supervisors approved a program to pay a one-time stipend of $1250 to people with a positive COVID test to self-isolate at home. The initiative will help those who don’t have paid sick leave and don’t qualify for unemployment or stimulus money.  The program is aimed at essential employees, day laborers, undocumented workers, and those at businesses too small to provide benefits.  Individuals must be referred by one of several approved neighborhood clinics. 

Ten million dollars has been committed to the program which should help 7,500 people. The County has not yet announced when the program will begin..
Parenting During COVID
Free Weekly Drop-In Virtual Support Group for Parents/Caregivers - STARTS THIS WEEK!
Fremont Youth & Family Services developed a Support Group to address and explore the ways in which COVID-19 has impacted families. These support groups can provide:

  • Safe & Confidential Space to Share
  • Stress Relief for Parents & Caregivers
  • Exploration of Strategies for Limit Setting and Addressing Challenging Behaviors
  • Identifying Ways to Improve Communication Between Family Members
 
Groups are offered twice a week starting Monday, August 17. Drop in on Monday mornings from 10-11:30am or Wednesday evenings from 6- 7:30pm. Download the flyer here. Parents and Caregivers can click here to reserve a spot.
Financial Help

Living in the expensive Bay Area was tough enough before COVID-19, and now it’s even harder, especially if you were laid off. Our Financial Coaches can offer you strategies for paying bills and keeping float, dealing with credit issues as well as check to see if you qualify for benefit programs. Attend our virtual SparkPoint Info Session offered monthly on every 3rd Thursday from 6-7pm. Afterward, you can schedule a virtual appointment with one of our Financial Coaches via phone or video. All SparkPoint services are free. For more info, visit SparkPoint Fremont. Help Paying Water Bills  
The Alameda County Water District (ACWD) offers a $25 bimonthly credit to income-qualified customers through their Help on Tap program.  If eligible, applicants are approved for a two-year period.  If you are already enrolled in Medi-Cal, CalFresh, CalWORKs, or SSI/SSP, you should definitely look into this.
