Nesting Season:
Raptors and Their Homes
Saturday, July 15, 10:00-11:00 a.m.
In conjunction with this year's Summer Reading Program, the NWPL is hosting a free presentation about raptor nest building. An educator from VINS will be on hand with three raptors to explain how humans aren't the only creatures that build amazing homes for their families.
Nesting season is the most important time of the year for bird populations. Learn what to do if you find a baby bird, and what bird parents are busy doing at this of time year, and how we can help them out. A discussion of NestWatch, a citizen scientist conservation project, will also be presented. (more info...)

Author Reading - Janet Benton
Thursday, July 20, 4:00-5:00
Come hear Philadelphia author Janet Benton, whose debut novel Lilli de Jong has been called a "monumental accomplishment" (Kirkus Reviews) and "a stunning ode to motherhood" (author Sarah McCoy). Released May 16 by Nan A. Talese/Doubleday, the novel tells the story of an unwed Quaker mother in 1883 who decides to keep her baby. It is in the form of the young mother's diary. Reviewers have compared the work to that of Geraldine Brooks. The author will read from the novel, discuss the history and motivations behind it, answer questions, and sign books. See www.janetbentonauthor.com for more information.  (more...)

Pause in Book Donations
We love books, of course we do!
But, right now, our stacks of donated books are so high we'll soon need a ladder. If you can, please hold off on any book donations until August. If you need to donate asap, you may drop off books at the UU church (down the driveway and into the downstairs door).
Thank you for understanding!
No Reading Groups this Summer

We will resume book groups in the September, after everyone gets back from their summer reading.
