The Concert Program

On Saturday, December 8th we will be having a fundraising concert held at the Lamphere High School auditorium from 7 pm to 9 pm. We are very fortunate to have Mrs. Jie Wang and her husband Mr. Jinsheng Zhang approach us and offer to host this fundraising concert to go towards our Chinese Community Center project.
Please read the following introduction of performers to know more about the program in the concert.

Introduction of Performers

Duet Soprano Jie Wang and Tenor Jinsheng Zhang

Soprano Jie Wang and Tenor Jinsheng Zhang 's repertoire encompasses classical Chinese songs, German and French artistic songs, as well as arias of Western operas especially Italian operas. Recently, they developed strong interest in Broadway works. They have played opera in Detroit area “Headstrong” , in 2016. On October 18th, 2016, they performed at the DSO Max M Fisher Music Center with the University Orchestra. On February 3rd, 2018, they successfully held a recital at the Stamps Auditorium, the University of Michigan. Through their talents in vocal music and enthusiasms in helping others, they have been continuously making contributions to the local communities.

Solo Dance

Angela Chao , at the age of five, began to pursue rhythmic gymnastics and ballet. She had won an individual champion, second prize and regional second prize for rhythmic gymnastics in Michigan. After entering the Juliana’s Academy of Dance, she started to learn modern dance, jazz dance, tap dance and hip hop. In all kinds of dance competitions in Michigan, the small dance group she belongs as a key member, won numerous first places. Since 2016, Angela began to learn Chinese dance. The collective dance " Qiu Lu Si Yu " won the gold medal in the 2018 Youth Talent Competition; the collective dance "The Fallen Flower" and "The Spirit of Dance" won the gold medal in the 2017 Youth Talent Competition. In 2018, Angela's solo dance "Hongyan" won the first prize of the CAPA Michigan Talent Awards.

Folk Dance

Troy Chinese Folk Dancing Group was established in 2003 with passion on Chinese traditional dance and the goal to share Chinese culture in Michigan. The group has actively performed in the past 15 years in Metro Detroit Area. Featured dance includes Sword dance “ Mu Lan, Zou Yu and Li Xiang Li Ying. ” Thirteen members for today’s fundraising performance, will present the beautiful dance “ Spell of Fragrance” .
Adult Choir

Michigan Chinese Choir was founded in 2010. It gathers a group of gifted vocal enthusiasts in the United States. The existing members, more than 100 in total, are from four choirs that are united: Sound From Hometown, New century, Sound of spring, Wenxin. The mission of the choir is to promote Chinese culture with beautiful songs, serve diverse communities, and promote the interaction and exchange of Chinese and Western culture and art. In addition to making more friends by vocal music events, Michigan Chinese choir has been proactively contributing to the cultural activities of surrounding communities for many years. In April 2016, the choir joined the world's most famous 27th Italian VENORA International Choir Competition and won the gold medal in the fierce competition of the 22 teams in each country. Michigan Chinese Choir also participated the Midwest 1000-person chorus held in Chicago in September 2017.

This choir is instructed under Ms. Ma Shuping, and led by Mr. Wu Borun, the head of the delegation; Ms. Jiang Yan, Mr. Chen Hongliang and Mr. Wu Wei xing, the deputy heads.

Solo Soprano
Selina Wang

Selina Wang is a famous soprano in Singapore. She is the president of World Chinese Musicians Association Singapore Branch, member of Musicians Society of Singapore, the founder of Sing Tao Art, the former president of Singapore Fuller International Art Troupe, former vice president of DLs' Caring Community Art Troupe, and the vocal instructor of Singapore Foochow Association Chorus.

Wang is a soloist with rich performance experience on the stage in Japan, Australia, the US, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan and so on. The original singer of Where Jasmine blossomed, Songs of Ages, Looking For Her In Vain, Iridescent Clouds and Flowers, and  A Tiny Little Raindrop.

Beijing Opera

Shubo Fang , vocal professional and Beijing opera lover, won many awards in national contests in China. After coming to the United States, Mrs. Fang was often invited to perform Beijing opera in concerts on various occasions, which is very popular and winning audiences’ hearts.

Jia Hua Dance Team

Angela Chao, Catherine Hu, Catherine Zhu, Odelia Huang, the dancers of this group have been dedicated to ballet, jazz, and Chinese dance for a long time. This team is active in local schools, community performances and competitions. Children Choir

Michigan New Century Chinese School Children’s Choir was founded in September, 2018. Its members are children from the age of 5 to 12. This choir performed in 2018 Canton’s International Festival. Its instructor, Selina Wang, graduated from Vocal music school, Nanyang Academy of Fine Art, Singapore.
