Hot Springs Village continues to keep our members informed on the latest information about COVID-19 locally and in the state of Arkansas. Currently, we are continuing to follow Phase 2 Directives from the Arkansas Department of Health.

An online interactive health literacy toolkit called Know The Science from National Institutes of Health and National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health can be used to help sort out complex scientific topics that relate to health research.

It's available in English and Spanish as "Conozca la ciencia."   
   
State of Arkansas  
 
Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson said that 787 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the last 24 hours in the state. This brings the state's cumulative cases to 40,968.  
 
Of the 40,968 cases, 6,596 are considered active with 80 in nursing homes, 342 in correctional facilities and 6,174 in the community.
 
When it came to today's cases, 170 were detected in correctional facilities, with one large cluster in Chico County, and 617 were detected in the community at large. Pulaski County had 82 additional cases.
 
Hutchinson said that testing numbers have been down with only 4,719 people being tested yesterday. So far, the cumulative positive rate for testing is 8.2 percent for all people tested. He said commercial labs are still under-performing as far as getting testing finished.
 
There were seven more hospitalizations today, bringing the total hospitalized to 508. Of that number, 108 are on ventilators.
 
There were also six more deaths in the state, bringing the total to 434.

As of July 29 at 2:30 p.m., the United States deaths attributed to COVID-19 are 148,866.

Saline & Garland Counties 
According to the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement, area code 71909 (which includes a portion of Garland County as well as Hot Springs Village) has had a total of 36 cases of COVID-19 as of July 20. This is a cumulative total and does not reflect the number of active cases.

As of 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, 809 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Saline County, an increase of 11 since county numbers were last reported. Of those, 640 have recovered and 165 of the total cases are considered active. The number of deaths is four.
 
Garland County currently has 735 cumulative cases of COVID-19, an increase of 22 since yesterday. So far, 509 people are considered recovered and 219 cases are considered active. The total number of deaths is seven.
